The police continue to harass and intimidate our community and our allies and the list of people
charged is growing long. We are in touch with all of those people and making sure they are getting the
legal support they need.
It is important for people to understand that there are two separate legal issues that 1492 Land Back
Lane is currently dealing with.
First is the mounting charges against our Land Defenders and supporters.
The second is the civil case and fighting the injunction. Our fundraising efforts have been ongoing as we expect our legal costs to be able to fight both situations
to be significant.
Due to the strict time lines put in place by the court, we were not able to ensure that we would be able to fight both situations given our current fundraising situation.
As such the priority has been set on ensuring that every single person who faces criminalization due to the ongoing issues at 1492 has the legal support that they require. This means that Skyler Williams will be self representing for the civil proceedings.
We have put together an amazing team of community to assist in building our defense, along with movement and criminal lawyers to cover everyone else. We have built a large legal team consisting of more than 20 different lawyers representing people or consulting in various ways.
So far everyone who has been arrested has been able to talk to a lawyer and other people on the legal support team to get what they need regarding criminal charges arising from being on the land at 1492 Land Back Lane.
So far that is 26 people, and counting. Anyone who needs
support with arrests or concern of arrest from their actions at 1492 Land Back Lane should reach out to
us at Landbacklanelegalsupport@protonmail.com.
Our Legal Fund (gofundme.com/f/legal-fund-1…) is currently at $130,500. We intend
on continuing our fundraising efforts with the hope of being able to secure legal council for the Civil
injunction in addition to covering all people charged in connection.
With the arrest count still rising—we know many more arrests are coming—and our desire to fight the civil case, we have decided to increase our goal on our gofundme to $500,000.
This goal will not get us to the supreme court, but it will make sure that everyone who wants to can take their charges to trial to defend themselves. This is going to be a long road ahead with a lot of hard work and dedication.
However this cannot be done with out your support. Please give generously.
A huge shout out to the organizers and administrators of the online legal fund auction, and to everyone
who donated items, and to those who bid.
The auction raised $29,388 for the legal fund. If other people have fundraising ideas, please reach out to us at landback6nations@gmail.com.
Thank you all so much for the ongoing support.

Two days ago, police executed a warrant against one of our non-native allies. With riot shields and guns drawn, eight officers arrested this ally on our territory for mischief and disobeying a court order.
Every person arrested in relation to #1492LandBackLane face these two nuisance charges, however, this level of force during an arrest is a severe escalation. These tactics are meant to intimidate our allies who stand alongside us as we resist the unwanted development of our lands
Canada is a colonial state that is choosing to use police violence and a prejudicial system of laws to legitimize the theft of lands from our future generations of Haudenosaunee children.
We know these threats of more police violence is all we can expect from the OPP. They don’t have any other means of dealing with onkwehonwe people.
We will continue our peaceful occupation of our lands despite their threats and their attempts to intimidate us. This is Haudenosaunee Territory!!!
We are working hard today to restore our camp after that crazy wind storm last night. Several of our tents got destroyed. Others blew down. So now that the wind calmed down a bit, we can get this work.
100 days in the desert. A desert created by this developer. Every blade of grass, every shrub and tree all stripped from the lands. Cover everything in concrete and asphalt in the name of progress. This is destruction. Far more then any barricade could ever do.
If you were waiting for the callout this is it.
If you have the capacity to come. Come. Whatever amount of time. Whatever your capacity. Pitch a tent. Stay the night. The weekend. The week or the month.
A few days of barricades up. Massive OPP presence. They are starting to push again to open things up. Our people continue to stand strong. Still making time to eat, laugh and share stories.
After a desperate attempt to shift the blame to our side after shooting rubber bullets into a group of innocent bystanders. The police put out an out of context video. Forgetting to mention the goading of our people.
Not saying they threatened our women. It must be hard to be in the wrong all the time when dealing with native people across country. So let’s find a 1 minute clip that shows us once in 100 days defending ourselves.
The OPP have significantly raised their numbers. Cops have made contact to ask for concessions. To open roads. To undo all the things that they’ve caused. Stop shooting at our people.
As of today all the roads remain closed. Rails are closed. We’ve said no to development. We’ve said violent OPP tactics will not be tolerated. So now here we are. Again.
Unity is the topic of discussion today. 100 years of government meddling to undo. This is true of most of our communities. What we need so dearly across all turtle island is to come together. You tactics to divide our communities will no longer work. We are in this together.
Statement Regarding the Haldimand Police Services Board
Last night we were made aware of a recent meeting conducted by the Haldimand Police Services Board, pressuring the OPP to increase their violent enforcement of an interim injunction placed on 1492 Land Back Lane.
Discussions from this meeting of the Haldimand Police Services Board are deeply troubling and alarming.
The Board must be accountable for their words and actions which direct violence towards Skyler Williams, our camp, and entire community. Their statement is an attempt to direct police to take the most extreme enforcement tactics against our community.
