Near as I can tell, Chris Rufo's Documentary Foundation rec'd funding from the Moving Picture Institute in 2014 & 2015 when Rebekah Mercer was on the board. By 2017, his last documentary, America Lost, was essentially complete...
In May 2017 or thereabout, Rufo became a Claremont fellow. In Dec 2018, he wrote his first article for the Discovery Institute....
