Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation Inland Revenue, Faisalabad has arrested proprietor of M/s SAYTEX INTERNATIONAL, one of the major culprits running the racket of fake and flying invoices, causing huge loss of revenue to the national Exchequer. 1/6
The Directorate had unearthed a big sales tax evasion scam of issuing/adjusting fake and flying invoices involving tax fraud of millions of rupees.2/6
Accordingly, prosecution proceedings against the members of the fraudsters’ gang were initiated and the First Information Report (FIR) was lodged against M/s Arrow International, its buyers, suppliers and other beneficiaries under section 37(a) of the Sales Tax Act 1990.3/6
The person arrested had issued fake invoices worth 104.446 million to M/s Arrow International and thus defrauded payment of due taxes thereon. 4/6
Mr. Imran Zafar, I.O/Deputy Director, who arrested the accused has obtained physical remand of the accused from the learned Special Judge (Customs, Taxation & Anti-Smuggling), Lahore. The accused is currently under further investigation.5/6
Investigation from arrested persons subsequently led the Intelligence and Investigation Directorate to identification of real culprits behind establishment and running of this network of tax fraudsters involving 65 units and total invoice value amounts to Rs.1.3 billion.6/6

The Hon. Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Shareef constituted a Committee, chaired by the Federal Minister for Law to examine the new column introduced by FBR in the IRIS tax return, assess its implications for the tax filers, & recommend corrective measures or improvements. 2/8

The Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation (Inland Revenue) Lahore has detected tax evasion by a reputed company which led to recovery of sales tax amounting to Rs. 1358 Million and default surcharge of Rs. 26 Million on 20th June, 2023. 1/5
The company had issued illegal credit notes of huge amounts in Annexure-C of the sales tax returns without corresponding debit notes from the buyers that suppressed output tax to reduce its sales tax liability for the tax periods in which illegal credit notes were issued. 2/5
The team of Directorate gathered information meticulously without disturbing the business activity of the company and initiated proceedings under section 38 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990 and retrieved the record and documents from the business premises. 3/5
