I heard the latest thing pissing off the children of anger on Twitter is the award of Kano-Kazaure-Daura-Maradi/Dutse Railway.Did they tell them only Fulani people will be allowed on the rail carriages? It is an infrastructure for Nigeria & Nigerians. Sell easily to Niger. Simple
The Kano-Daura/Kazaure-Maradi corridor, is an ancient trading route. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit there last year - read about it here. link.medium.com/QQgg8PWw29
Why can’t people be happy for development?
Will they be unhappy when they learn my people in Ado Ekiti too will enjoy the “Amaechi Rail” courtesy of a spur to Oshogbo to join up the Ibadan-Ilorin-Kano rail too? Yes o! Na God do am. Keep crying while we rejoice!
For those Shouting Seme Border, Benin is the one selling to Nigeria let them build rail from Cotonu to Lagos, we will accept it. We sell to Niger, Chad and Mali, all landlocked. And that is priority now. Rail starting from Apapa to Marada makes sense. Makes Lagos Port Competitive
And infrastructure is not mutually exclusive. By all means, Seme Border road should be fixed quickly. But it shouldn’t prevent rail from getting to Ado Ekiti and Kazaure. Lets stop this pettiness. Moreover this work is multi-year. Probably takes 5-10 years. But we start NOW.
Kano is an historic route for jobs and commerce in the North -deep into the Sahel region- currently decimated with unemployment and banditry, whatever we can do to re-energize that economy where they are makes sense.
Because if we don’t, that problem will come down South and decimate whatever economic advantages you think you have. I support AKK Gas Pipeline as much as I support EIIJ Gas pipeline. I support Kano to Marada rail , same way I support Lagos-Ibadan/Oshogbo-Kano Line with Ado Ekiti
Infrastructure to connect the Nation enables people and goods movement that unite disparate people and lands. The agents of disunity are the ones that hate the Apapa to Maradi Rail Line. We as Africans must start cancelling colonial borders too. ECOWAS is ONE.
One last point - to decongest and save Lagos we need to develop the hinterlands! Ikole Ekiti, Kazaure, Yola , Mubi , Awka- they all need development. Most Nigerians live outside Lagos. Get used to it. Ciao

Next step in this policy framework is a national legislation to ban crude oil exports within three years and ensuring every new OML renewal is tied to refining and petrochemical requirement. Nigeria has no business exporting crude. The lost value is too enormous
We need to stop short term thinking to manage an economy with escalating population. We had 120 million people last time we reach 1.8 million barrels, unless you double your export accordingly to match your 220 million population then any increase in production means zero impact
..on your reserves and revenues as your needs had gone up. Only processing and value addition can 5x and 10x value of exports of raw petroleum products. Export your premium products but definitely not crude- Petrochemicals and refined products.
I think at some point it needs to be pointed out that discriminately setting the amount citizens can withdraw from a bank upon demand is technically illegal as it is my money & the essence of currency is that I can ask for it as I demand. You can charge a fee but not refuse me.
If the @cenbank is so incompetent in providing new currencies it should say and do what other central banks do when swapping notes: progressive elaboration. It is possible to exchange notes unannounced the way other free economies do instead of inducing economic panic
If the primary goal of changing the currency is to reduce the cash we have in hand, this current policy is more likely to discourage Nigerians from banking as cash is suddenly supreme. The trauma of Emefielization will be less trust in banks, more cash & less financial inclusion
The Nigerian Police urgently needs to be devolved. The police council as it is constituted today can effectively do it under a transition arrangement without requiring a constitutional amendment. It should be LG based and community not state governor controlled. It is not working
Whether the video making rounds is true or not is mute. A unitary police system is a complete and utter failure. Only local police specific to the 774 LGAs of the nation, funded locally with additional block grants from FG and States can secure a diverse, federal union.
The easiest way to achieve this is for the Police Council made up of the 36 Governors, IG & President to set up community policing committees by gazette with stakeholder representation, & delegate the powers of police operational management & control to them- away from IGP.
In every regime since 1993, they were strategic actors or bystanders.
ING 1993 & Abacha Regime- Kingibe Faction was incorporated.
Obasanjo 1999 - 2003 - Atiku Faction was incorporated and beat the Kingibe faction to VP. MKO Faction went into AD and focused on regional base.
Obasanjo 2003- 2007- The Atiku faction was significantly weakened. Obasanjo sought to build power base. Kingibe faction watched. MKO faction became AC with Tinubu as leader.
Yaradua 2007-2010 - Kingibe Faction returned briefly as partner with new PDM. Weak partnership fails
The completion of the @OfficialAPCNg selection of its candidate @officialABAT to compete against @OfficialPDPNig candidate @atiku completes the generational transition of political leadership from the 1966 Class to the 1992 Class.
The common thread between the two flag-bearers today being their participation in the the Yaradua’s national consciousness movement first called the Peoples Front (PF) which later became the People Democratic Movement (PDM) in SDP in 1992. dailypost.ng/2012/09/09/201…
Indeed, this contest was 30 years in the making between the two business partners, political associates & friends that came from the singular tree that can be traced to the Katsina born General and former Number Two Man in Nigeria who was killed in prison by General Abacha.
Folks always delude themselves about delegates and their behavior. I always find external analyst views, especially journalists, interesting on these matters and they always seem to miss it. Because not all delegates, like all elections, are equal. #DelicateDelegateInsights
Not all elections are the same, and delegates are not given enough credit as to how savvy they’re about these things. Delegates are politicians, first and foremost - and want to win, which is the most important factor to them: not money, not godfather. #DelicateDelegateInsights
The method of voting also determine the behavior of delegates. Where absolute secret ballot is guaranteed, they can behave very independently, whereas if there is more close marking by their benefactors like serialized or coloured ballots- they toe line. #DelicateDelegateInsights
