Ladies and gents, it's Friday and time for the second leg of the #KnowYourOwner series and this week we look at the other #DStvPrem new boys @TSGALAXYFC, and their owner @SukaziTim.

I'll focus on Tim's business life, the birth of Galaxy a little agent scandal and more. #PSL
As usual, I will re-post my disclaimer. I'm not an auditor, accountant nor am I a sports journalist. I am merely a football fan who likes to read up on the financial/business side of sport and this is all publicly available information.

Let us begin

#KnowYourOwner
Tim Sukazi hails from a town called Dennilton near Kwaggafontein in Mpumalanga.

There isn't much known about his personal life apart from allegations that he is in a polygamist union with two wives.

#KnowYourOwner #TSGalaxy
Sukazi often gives back to his community, playing Father Christmas and adopting children who he sponsors through his charitable organisation.

He is often seen among community members, leading the band at games and does a lot for the KwaNdebele region

#KnowYourOwner #TSGalaxy
Onto his work life and I must say, @SukaziTim is extremely accomplished and educated.

He holds a B.Proc and LL.B from Unisa as well as an LL.M from UCT. He was a partner at @Bowmans_Law between 03 and 08 before becoming a Bowmans director until 2013.

#KnowYourOwner #TSGalaxy
In June 2013, Sukazi founded Tim Sukazi Inc, a corporate and commercial law firm based in Sandton.

In addition, he owns sports talent management agency, Quality Talent Sports (QTS), overseeing the careers of stars such as @komphelasteve, Brilliant Khuzwayo and Lebohang Maboe
He also served as a member of the Gauteng Gambling Board until as recently as March 2019.

Onto the scandal. In 2014, Gordon Igesund was accused of colluding with agents (Sukazi's QTS among them) on Bafana selections and instructing players to go on strike during CHAN that year
Igesund was found not guilty by the Norman Arendse Commission but some recommendations were made including the banning of agents from any hotels that Bafana were staying at.

Sukazi vowed he would travel wherever he could afford to and would not be bound by the recommendations
In another 2017 scandal, Sukazi and the South African Football Intermediaries Association (SAFIA) was referred to @CompComSA for fee price fixing.

Sukazi's QTS agreed to pay a fine of more than R114 168.84. Sukazi then stepped down from the agency to avoid potential conflict.
Onto the club, Sukazi says the ‘club was established for the need for a young, vibrant and innovative club that is moving with the times.’

The former KwaNdebele had no club at any reasonable level of the game and he felt it was his responsibility to change that.
.@TSGALAXYFC purchased the NFD league license from Cape Town All Stars in May 2018. Prior to that Galaxy played in the ABC Motsepe League.

On Saturday 18 May 2019, Galaxy shocked the nation, winning their first inaugural trophy, the Nedbank Cup, beating Chiefs 1-0
The rise to the top table of South African club football was complete with the announcement that Galaxy had purchased the PSL status of @HighlandsP_FC.

And so we end. What a story @SukaziTim is painting so far@

There are many parts to this but we'll concentrate on the SA Tourism mandate and the deal

Juventus handed a 15 point deduction and directors banned

Club found to have falsely inflated the value of players and misrepresented losses. Last year's financials showed losses of €254 million, the highest ever in Italian football.

They have also made losses 5 years in a row
The most cited example in the reported 42 suspicious Juve transfers being looked at by the FIGC is last year's deal between the 36-time Italian champions and Barcelona which saw Miralem Pjanic move to Catalonia and Arthur Melo go the other way.
Arthur was valued at €72 million and Pjanic €60 million, but even though nowhere near that amount of cash was paid both clubs could immediately book the values of the sales on their balance sheets.

Its January and gyms are packed, as usual 🙄

20-25% of all new gym memberships are signed in January but almost all of the newbies fall off the wagon, making established gym companies highly profitable.

This is the business of fitness and nutrition 🏃‍♂️💪

THREAD 🔽 Image
When it comes to attendance, stats show that gym memberships have increased over the years. In South Africa, for example, the number of Virgin Active gym memberships has grown from 497,000 in December 2021 to 587,000 in October 2022.

Illegal sports streaming is made up of many complex layers and broadcasters are trying their hardest to fight back.

But is this a battle they can win?

THREAD ⬇️
A study conducted by the Digital Citizens Alliance estimated that illegal streaming costs the sports industry $3.3-billion a year. This figure includes not only lost revenue from advertisers and subscriptions, but also the cost of producing and airing the sports events themselves
Another study, conducted by the Sports Video Group, found that illegal streaming cost the sports industry $1.5-billion in lost revenue in 2018. This study did not take into account the cost of producing the events or other potential losses.
