I think many Christians who lend tacit support to organizations that are Marxist, anti-nuclear family, and anti-binary sexuality are kicking against the goads and actually opposing God. Their motivation may be something that is good. I mean who doesn’t want to oppose injustice
2/ where it may be found? But there is something far more theological that is being missed. Many of the protesters/rioters are actual anarchists wanting to blow up the structures and systems of society. That’s why they attack police officers, that’s why they burn buildings down,
3/ that’s why they loot, and that’s why some of their “priestly” philosophers within the intelligentsia go on the radio and advocate for looting as a form of justice. Listen, as soon as God spoke to universe into existence, in the first nanosecond it was unordered, formless, void
4/ chaotic. Yet, with mere words, God spoke absolute order and perfection into creation, thus obliterating chaos. Then he created humanity in his image and told us to have dominion over the entire earth. Abraham Kuyper was right when he said had there not been the Fall, humanity
5/ would have spread the garden over the whole world and it would’ve become a world garden and a world city. Fast forward to the end of the Bible, and what do we see in the new creation? A new earth that happens to be a world city and a world garden (that also happens to be one
6/ giant holy of holies). It’s always been about a move towards greater and greater order and harmony. And even with the Fall of man, marriage, family, tribes, and societies have been elements of common grace, even though sin mixes itself into these graces. Despite that, we are
7/still supposed to work for the good order of society. When Israel was exiled to Babylon, Jeremiah told them to work for the good of the Babylonian society and to try to be a blessing to it, because that only creates greater stability for their own lives while they are in exile.
8/ Again order only helps everyone because it’s God’s theological trajectory. Well now we have organizations with hundreds of thousands of followers, and a bunch of well-meaning people providing moral support to them, and yet their goal is to reverse the order that God commands.
9/ They actually seek chaos, which is always in opposition to the work of God. Break up the nuclear family, redefine marriage to where it becomes meaningless, obliterate the concept of private property in order to justify wholesale thievery, undermine parental authority, destroy
10/ an economy that allows people to work and prosper, remove the checks and balances built into a constitutional republic because then the sinful mobs of anarchy could perpetually have their way. I guess what I’m trying to say, is even if an organization’s title means something
11/ good, if the organization itself promotes anarchy and the destruction of social good order, then they are trying to undo what God did the moment he started speaking creation into reality. What Christian wants to be found on the opposite side of God? What Christian wants to be
12/ found in opposition to God’s own telos? People need to start thinking big picture. The rioters are evil and satanic. The organizations that fuel them are evil and satanic. Don’t support them. Support real justice; biblical justice, but speak out against the chaos. Otherwise,
13/ it seems as if you are acting cowardly or even worse, desiring the applause of men.

I am not going to weigh in on the specifics of what MacArthur said about OCD and PTSD. But what I will say is most critics & friends have very little knowledge on the subject. You assume the chemical theory of mental illness simply because it was popularized in the media in the
2/ 1990s. But if you actually read the latest literature and studies, the field of psychiatry has questioned many aspects of the chemical theory and are swinging back towards behavior. So before you go and expose the world to your ignorance as you assume that this is a matter of
3/ hard science long proved, please do understand that you are just as uninformed as the people you criticize.

🧵 on the Israel and Palestinian conflict. Let’s set the record straight. There’s no such thing historically as the Palestinian people. Prior to 1948, the term was applied to Jews that lived in the British mandate. Prior to that, the land was occupied by Ottoman Turks, not
2/ Palestinians since there was no such thing. After Israel declared itself a state, Jordan pushed a lot of their unwanted population into Israel, and together they invented this Palestinian identity. They are just Jordanians. They have a state. It’s called Jordan. Regardless of
3/ their constant attempts to harm Israel, Israel grants citizenship, voting rights, and scholarships for higher education to their Arab population. Some of their Arab population even serves in the government and in the courts. The reason why Israel built walls around some

🧵There’s one thing that I hate to see. I hate watching my fellow conservative Christians with the right theology acting like jerks to people who are vulnerable. Some folks are a mess, and they’re trying to figure out their lives and where God fits into it. Because they say
2/ immature things, or side with an ideological opponent on one issue here and there, many pounce on them, harass them, call them names, and accuse them being vile. Was your theology perfect when you first came to the Lord? Did you still think in worldly ways for a while? Did you
3/ ever side with people and positions that were wrong? I know I did. Sanctification is a process. Is it any wonder then that a growing number of hurting people who were at first seeking the church have been pushed into the arms of reality-denying, sexually-deviant children of

Given that left leaning folks (i.e., @AOC) are misusing the word “fascist” again, a 🧵is in order where I repeat some of the basic stuff I’ve said before.

The word fascist can’t be applied to somebody just because he or she is a conservative, or even a nationalist. It certainly
2/ can’t be applied to Christians for believing in historic Christian doctrines. Fascism is a very specific ideology, and political and religious conservativism does not meet the criteria. Facism was born out of a combination of right wing and left wing ideas, duly named after
3/ the Ancient Roman symbol of the fasces (an axe with rods tied around it, symbolizing society rallying around a military leader). It was highly nationalistic, far beyond just patriotism and putting one’s country first, but instead required the subjugation of those who are

The word Pharisee is more complicated than its normal usage in Christian circles. Many people today will accuse someone of being a Pharisee for simply cherishing and expecting sound and orthodox, biblical doctrine. I’ll take that accusation as a compliment. And it’s a fair
2/ accusation. The Pharisees, for the most part, had their theology right. Paul never stopped being a Pharisee (Acts 23:6). But, there’s another side to this label that we need to reckon with. There was also a negative side to the project of Pharisaism. They became prideful. They
3/ stopped imitating God’s steadfast love that endures forever; they ceased to imitate His mercy and compassion. Those who disagreed with them were canceled. The people of the surrounding culture were looked down upon as “the people of the land.” Those who were not trained in

A 🧵for your consideration. In the movie, Return of the King, they put a line in Gandalf’s mouth, which in the book actually came from Fairmir’s mouth. The quote nevertheless makes me think of many of my fellow Reformed pastors. It also rebukes my heart. The quote says:

“The old
2/ wisdom borne out of the West was forsaken. Kings made tombs more splendid than the houses of the living, and counted the old names of their descent dearer than the names of their sons. Childless lords sat in aged halls, musing on heraldry or in high, cold towers, asking
3/ questions of the stars. And so the people of Gondor fell into ruin. The line of kings failed. The White Tree withered. The rule of Gondor was given over to lesser men.”

In the days of the Reformers, with both doctrine and deed in hand, they stood against the armies of
