The first witness of day 5 of the #baileyboswelltrial is Saline County Deputy Tom Hudiburgh who was a part of the K9 unit for the team that searched for Sydney Loofe's body.
@NTVNEWS
Yesterday, after receiving the phone number for "Audrey Cain" or Bailey Boswell, they found the address connected to the number.
Hudiburgh went to the address in Wilbur, Nebraska to search the home and was welcomed by a strong smell of bleach.
@NTVNEWS
Hudiburgh says law enforcement was looking for a person and not anything specific on their initial search of the property.
He says the home appeared "normal."
@NTVNEWS
Owner of the home in Wilbur, Alan Call, takes the stand as he provides some background to Trail and Boswell residing in the basement of his home.
He says in their initial meeting, Boswell was pretty quiet.
@NTVNEWS
Call discusses more details about the layout of the basement and the lease agreement for Trail and Boswell.
A third name was included on the lease, which Call says was Boswell's daughter.
@NTVNEWS
During the week of November 13th, Call says he received a text from his wife about a strong smell of Clorox.
She said the smell was impacting her asthma.
Call says the smell was not coming from him or his wife because they don't keep that chemical in their home.
@NTVNEWS
He says the smell was the strongest in the garage, some down in the basement and other parts of the home.
The next day the smell was still there but it was faint, according to Call.
@NTVNEWS
Alan Koll* is now being questioned by the defense as they try to reveal more about the differing personalities between Trail and Boswell.
@NTVNEWS
Following her husband is Jennifer Koll as she describes the day she came home to the overwhelming smell of bleach during the week of Sydney Loofe's disappearance in 2017.
@NTVNEWS
Koll says she followed news stories about Loofe's disappearance and believes she saw someone that looked like Sydney Loofe with Bailey Boswell at the apartment in the summer of 2017.
@NTVNEWS
Next to take the stand is the Koll's son Dayton.
He was living in a room in the basement during the time that Boswell and Trial were residing there.
@NTVNEWS
Dayton was home the night of November 15th and doesn't recall any loud noises or screaming, but did smell a slight smell of bleach.
That smell became stronger the morning of the 16th, but he says nothing else was different.
@NTVNEWS
The defense questioned Dayton about the location of his apartment in reference to Boswell's and the structure of his door..
He stood by his answers of not hearing any loud noises the night of the 15th into the morning of the 16th.
@NTVNEWS
The fifth witness to take the stand is Nebraska State Patrol Investigator Pedram Nabegh who assisted other members of law enforcement with the search warrant in Saline County.
@NTVNEWS
Nabegh was in charge of taking photos during the search of the Wilbur residence as they looked for any shred of evidence that could lead to Sydney Loofe.
@NTVNEWS
The prosecution and Nabegh are walking through photos of the Wilbur residence.
He noted the floor fan was still on as they walked through the basement.
@NTVNEWS
One of Nabegh's photos shows the kitchen sink with an evidence marker.
He says it indicated they had collected swabs from near the sink's drain to preserve any potential evidence from that area.
@NTVNEWS
This procedure was done for numerous items throughout the Trail/Boswell residence.
Evidence photos later revealed numerous bottles of bleach that were found.
@NTVNEWS
A second search of the Trail/Boswell residence was conducted on November 22nd.
Photos revealed streaks that were found on "a good portion" of the wall, according to Nabegh.
@NTVNEWS
Items were also found in a search of a silver Chrysler 300 outside of the Wilbur residence. Two wooden club-like weapons were found along with a small knife.
The owner of the vehicle was never identified.
@NTVNEWS
Another vehicle was later searched.
Other miscellaneous items were found in the black Ford 500, including the registration for the vehicle belonging to Aubrey Trail.
@NTVNEWS
Nabegh says through further investigation they determined the silver Chrysler 300 belongs to Aubrey Trail.
@NTVNEWS
Now on the stand is LPD Investigator Cynthia Koening-Warnke who was a part of the search of the Trail/Boswell residence.
@NTVNEWS
Several tools were used to try and collect evidence throughout the apartment, including a blood enhancement reagent called Blue Star.
@NTVNEWS
Koening-Warnke noted some instances the reagent had created an interesting reaction. The illuminated spot had sparkled which indicates a false positive.
Items like cleaning chemicals or paints can create a false positive.
@NTVNEWS
She also used the Blue Star tool on the Chrysler and Ford, but didn't note any findings that "stood out."
@NTVNEWS
FBI Special Agent Eli McBride takes a seat in the witness chair.
After contact with the Lincoln Police Department, the FBI became involved in the case a little after Thanksgiving in 2017.
@NTVNEWS
Several items of evidence were collected, including a camera, pictures of Trail and Boswell, and a knife.
@NTVNEWS
A search was also conducted on Sydney Loofe's vehicle and apartment in Lincoln.
The team was looking for "any evidence that could one, locate Sydney and two, determine if any kind of crime had been committed," according to McBride.
@NTVNEWS
Saline County Sergeant Richard Zimmerman is now on the stand as he reveals he was a part of the search to find Sydney Loofe around the Wilber area.
@NTVNEWS
Prosecution: "What was the purpose of the searches?"
Zimmerman: "To find Sydney Loofe..alive."
@NTVNEWS
Another quick series of questions from the defense to end Zimmerman's testimony as they focused on the lack of evidence recovered from the numerous searches.
@NTVNEWS
Lincoln Police Department Officer Matt Franken discussed a phone call that he had with Bailey Boswell's mother.
Now he is sharing details about the search for Trail, Boswell, and Loofe at a casino hotel.
@NTVNEWS
Franken says a series of Facebook posts by Boswell had lead to her arrest.
@NTVNEWS
Testimony has ended with nine witnesses taking the stand. We'll be picking up with testimony from witnesses outside of Nebraska according to the prosecution.

Testimony is underway again for this afternoon's session of the #baileyboswelltrial as we continue with Brooklyn McCrystal, Sydney's friend that created a Tinder account to match with "Audrey Cain" or Bailey Boswell.
@NTVNEWS
The defense is questioning McCrystal if she knew the person she was contacting, "Audrey Cain," was really even Bailey Boswell.
Making the point that McCrystal had no way to verify who she was really talking to.
@NTVNEWS
Next on the stand is Lincoln Police Department Officer Joseph Yandrick, who became involved in the missing person's case for Sydney Loofe.
