A 52-year-old man came to see me 5 years ago. He looked healthy. No complaints at all. Just a routine check his wife forced him to attend. We found early-stage colon cancer. He is now cancer-free.
But just like him, the patients who scare me most are not the sick ones. They’re the ones who feel fine and never come in. Never seek help.
Read.
They’ll tell you, “I’ll go when something’s wrong. I’m fine now.” That’s what I hear every day. But here’s what doctors know that patients don’t:
→ High BP has no symptoms.
→ Early cancer has no symptoms.
→ Type 2 diabetes has no symptoms.
→ ‘Feeling fine’ is not the same as ‘being fine’.
→ And most of the diseases killing people in their 50s and 60s were quietly building in their 30s and 40s.
I’ll be honest with you. The healthcare system makes money when you’re sick. Not when you’re well. I’m sure you already know that. Preventive care is underfunded, under-incentivised, and rushed through in 10-minute appointments.
So nobody is coming to save you proactively. You have to advocate for yourself. Ask for the bloods. Request the screening. Push for the scan. Be that annoying patient sometimes. Because, yes, it saves lives.

Studies have shown that peeing immediately after sex helps to prevent urinary tract infections (UTI). The urine flushes out some germs that may have got stuck in the urine passage (urethra) during sex.
2. Why should you wash up?
Washing up the genital area gently with clean water after sex helps to maintain your hygiene, reduce your risk of infection risk, and freshens you up.

There are two openings in the vulva — the vaginal opening and the urethral opening.
The urethral opening is the hole you pee out of. It is a tiny hole located just below your clitoris. The vaginal opening is right below your urethral opening.
As a woman, during vaginal sex, organisms in your vagina might find thier way deep into your urethra due to two reasons:
1. The thrusting 2. The fact that your urethra is shorter (5cm) than that of men (20cm)
So you are more prone to getting urinary tract infections after sex.
Ladies, if you're planning to get pregnant soon, take folic acid 400 micrograms daily for 2 to 3 months before you conceive and continue until you're at least 12 weeks pregnant. Don't wait till you miss your period.
Having enough folic acid in your body at that critical time helps your baby's brain and spinal cord to develop well.
Folic acid boosts the production of red blood cells in the body to prevent anemia in pregnancy and prepare you for child delivery.
