Genuinely curious to hear people’s thoughts on seeing paid blogger ads/ partnerships on IG. I always see people either making jokes or critical comments and want to understand generally how people feel about it. Just wondering.
I’m obvs in favor of ads. As a food blogger specifically highlighting local restaurants, it is A LOT more work than eating at a restaurant w/ friends, snapping a photo, & giving an opinion.
Some events are hours and staying consistent (posting daily/every other day) is costly...
and time consuming. Small biz cannot always afford to offer free food or money and that shouldn’t be an expectation of them. But through either direct compensation from a restaurant, paid partnerships, and/or crowdsourcing(Patreon), with the amt of work, time, and $$, your fav...
should get paid. Otherwise you leave it to the very wealthy to be the only content creators out here.
I see clearly noted paid partnerships esp with larger brands as “ad space.” i.e. this blog/outlet gets a lot of traffic & and the larger company is paying to get their...
product on those eyes. I’ve def seen bloggers rave about products or places they would never use/visit and that’s clearly lying and weird but getting paid for ads (like any other outlet) is okay.
Thanks for your takes! It sounds like most people are cool with it if done thoughtfully. I saw one or two people who are completely against it and think they should then consider supporting their favorite blogger/creatives with their own $$ 😊
