Red Flag winds haven't really surfaced.
We will see those winds increasing overnight.
Smoke is starting to clear = wind surfacing.
Red Flag was extended into Saturday morning.

EAST ZONE
Fire still hung up on ridges above Calistoga. Hasn't moved further towards City. Good structure defense. Steep terrain and really tough to work in. Very few hand crews available to help, there slower process in building lines.
Feeling confident that City of Calistoga won't be impacted from fire from that eastern side.

EAST ZONE
Further up along Old Lawley Toll Rd/Oat Hill Trail/Palisades
Fire did bump Hwy 29 and now Hwy 29 is closed in that area from Lake Co to Tubbs Ln

EAST ZONE
Fire still spreading up - Table Rock, etc. Very rugged terrain so it's a slow process to contain. Long fire front moving slowly. Burning away vegetation at a moderate rate.
Not expecting it to enter Lake Co
Fire continues to threaten Pope Valley and Angwin. Have had "good success" at keeping fire away from Angwin but when Red Flag winds surface it is a "huge concern."
#GlassFire CAL FIRE evening FB report
EAST ZONE
Putting a lot of control line and structure defense in Angwin for anticipated wind event.
Putting contingency line in Las Posadas State Forest as a back up line just in case so no more easterly spread.

EAST ZONE
Slow movement on SE side (Div N).
While Valley floor hasn't really been impacted they still are concerned about the winds funneling fire down Valley.
Many ag permits have been distributed allowing winery workers to be at vineyard/winery and CAL FIRE is concerned about so many people in the area.
"Trying to balance needs of fire & community."

EAST ZONE
Fire did jump line earlier near Oakville Grd. Very rugged terrain. They're reopening some control lines from the 2017 fires. If they can get fresh lines put in - "it's a lot of line, lot of work" - should slow fire growth SE.

WEST ZONE - Sonoma County
Continuing to monitor and mop up/eliminate hot spots in S along Adobe Road/Sugarloaf/S. Mayacamas. Still concerned about wind event.
My step-grandpa, Carl Richard Bischoff, died in Arizona yesterday after a five year fight with multiple myeloma. One of the most altruistic men I've ever known, he stepped in as a surrogate grandfather to me when my stepmom, BJ, became part of our family.
1/16
Almost 15 years ago we both under went surgeries- me dental surgery and Carl for colon cancer- like two freshman college roommates we were holed up together unexpectedly at BJ's house - eating soft foods, hopped up on pain killers and watching bad television for a week.
2/16
It was my first chance to get to know Carl, this man who was a new part of my family tree. He was born in 1933, the day after me, August 27, in Lancaster, PA. (We often celebrated our birthdays together!)
๐Forward progress stopped๐
This means the fire is no longer spreading, but it is not necessarily at 100% containment.
๐ฅ1/4 acre
Crews will be on scene for 3 hours
I will update THIS THREAD for the time being with any new information. ๐
This is on the Napa-Sonoma border, honestly. Just east of Sugarloaf State Park.
#WallFire is located in the Nuns Fire scar. That's "my" fire. And don't get excited - 2017 fire scars are ready to burn again - if you live here, you know.
