Firefighters also were concerned about the fire's southern front. “I have about a 50-50 percent confidence that line is going to hold, so there’s a potential threat to the community of Kenwood and potentially even Glen Ellen,” Cal Fire Chief Mark Brunton said.

Here’s what to know about the Glass fire Friday:
1.) The fire has grown to 61,150 acres and is 8% contained as of 8 p.m. (Map by Dennis Bolt)
2.) Evacuees in parts of Sonoma County and east Santa Rosa returned home when evacuation orders were downgraded to warnings earlier in the day. About 14,520 evacuees in Sonoma County remain, and it’s unclear when they’re able to return.

Here are five things to know about the Glass fire burning in Sonoma and Napa counties as of Wednesday:
The blaze has grown to 51,266 acres as of 7 p.m. At least 36 homes in Sonoma County and 107 homes in Napa County were destroyed, and those numbers are expected to increase as damage assessment continues, according to fire officials.
It remains 2 % contained. Helicopters were putting out hot spots along the Highway 12 corridor. In Napa County, the fire is quickly burning through forested terrain near Mount St. Helena, and additional evacuations were ordered north of Calistoga.

As of 8 p.m., the fire is 46,600 acres and 2% contained. Nearly 14,400 people remain evacuated in Sonoma County.
