If you have parents with hypertension or diabetes, be careful the cooking oil they use
As they get older, there is risk of high cholesterol, because their bodies can’t clear cholesterol from the blood as well as they could when they were younger
Let me explain
RT for awareness
There are two kinds of fats in the blood

Good fat and bad fat

Good fat is called HDL, while the bad fat is called LDL
The good fat absorbs cholesterol and carries it back to the liver, which then removes it from the body
Bad fat just accumulates in your vessels
When you go the market and get cooking oils from unknown sources, you might be raising your bad fat
How?
Some of these sellers add things like shea butter, bleached palm oil that contain saturated fat that increase your bad fat and deposit in your vessels #SayNoToUnbrandedOil
Most of these unbranded oils become solid when left for a while.
When this happens, it simply means that they contain high amounts of saturated fat which raises your LDL, narrows your blood vessels and can lead to a heart attack.
What oils do you use?
#LessIsMore
I have a family history of hypertension as many of you reading this, what I eat goes a long way to keeping my heart safe
Just left to get another batch of Devon Kings Oil, that contains mostly unsaturated oils. Using them ensures that my bad fat is down and good fat is up
Also because I am sure of the production. @devonkingsng is hygienically produced in Nigeria with Nigerians in mind, and you don't need a lot to cook, because #LessIsMore.
Ensure you make the right choices in your cooking oil, you'd be saving your heart

This whole japa immigration thing has made me remember this gist. My guy faced the same thing but his own story was crazier.

Walk with me!
There’s no place he did not go, there’s nobody he did not talk to for his study visa. Everytime, denied. At some point, he even thought his village people were after him. My guy stopped giving some family members gist sef.
A few months ago, a friend of ours gave us one update, Study in Canada Fair was holding in Abuja and Lagos by Best Education Services. We missed the Abuja one because we mixed up the date, somehow. My guy blamed village people again.

Luckily for us, we still had the opportunity to go for the one in Lagos. So, we said let’s go there and see what’s happening because my guy was really desperate at this point. We registered.

This is how you can protect yourself from monkeypox this period.

1. Pay attention to rash like these: At different stages of the disease, it can take different looks, so the number 1 rule is this: Do not try to diagnose any rash in your house, get a doctor to look at it

2. Avoid skin-to-skin contact with other people:

If you are going to attend a party or club where people might not wear a lot of clothing, swimming pools for instance. Do not get that close to other people as they might have the rash that might be easily contracted
3. If you see this rash on anyone, Do not have skin contact with them. Usually, this rash is seen on the face, hands, mouth, but can also spread to the private organs of that person,

If someone asks you to touch a rash, PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH ANOTHER PERSON'S RASH

As you get older, the speed at which your body breaks down food onto energy starts to drop

This means that when you swallow that fufu, a huge portion of it is saved as fat.

You noticed that you're not eating as much as you used to when you were younger yet, belle dey big abi?
Also, all foods are not the same when it comes to energy.

100 naira and 100 dollars are not the same, in the same vein, 100g of vegetables and 100g of cake are not the same even though they might weigh the same.

Some meals are more calorie dense than others.
What can you do?

I'll focus on one thing today.

Build muscle... your muscle is one major guy that actually uses the energy from the food, as you get older, your muscle mass drops, and your metabolism drops which makes it easier to gain weight.

When you train your musclesy

So when I was a child, o was the delivery boy for my mum's business.

She added ready-made pap to the akara, and I was the one delivering it from house to house.

This exposed me to quite a lot of people and characters. Some I became friends, others I didn't.

Follow me
In that area, there's a cartel of thugs that ran the area. They were one of my mum's best customers, and they sort of "liked" me. This meant I delivered pap to them often and went back to pick up the plates they used (there weren't disposable plates back then)E
Every time I went there, they made me run other errands, some included buying cigarettes for them, gin, etc, and they would also taunt me then. Omo something something, I only spoke English to them and not pidgin, cos my dad insisted we spoke only clear English.

Throughout December of 2022, I was fighting for my life. I went blind in one eye on the 3rd of Dec. 2022 & on the 5th, I was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Today I stand here before you to share my story. It has been a long road to recovery but each day is better than the last.
The full story of how this brain tumour affected me and my family is up on my YouTube, you can click the link below to watch the full video.

It was Dr. Tayo Ojo, a neurosurgeon here in Nigeria that did the surgery. So many people begged me to leave the country and get the surgery done but something kept me back here because I still had trust in us.

We just need more investment in our health sector. Image
