Faith is YOU knowing God and trusting His goodwill towards you.
To whatever degree that His promise(s) to you gives you rest (peace amidst a storm) that degree is the measure of your faith.
When I was preparing to get married, bills to be paid were soaring through my roof.
My big bro promised me N1million in support and boy oh boy my anxiety gave way instantly: I had peace for like 2 weeks. Why? Because I knew him enough to believe that if he had a way to spare 1 milli, he would give it to me. I mean it’s my wedding.
It turns out he was joking (long story😂😂 he couldn’t afford such). But by then it was enough time for the Holy Spirit to teach me:
The Holy Spirit said;
“Your brother, who you know would run to me for help just to be able to give you that kind of money promised you N1million for your wedding; you believed, and had peace of mind for 2 whole weeks...
How much more me?”
What is the element lacking in your relationship with Me (God) versus your relationship with your brother?
How could a mere mortal give you such a humongous promise and you slept easy (even when he hadn’t given you the money, and you knew it may be an impossible feat for him?
And I pondered on what the Spirit said to me, and it clicked:
I know my big brother. I know and can rely on his character. If he never gives me anything it’s because he doesn’t have it. He never lies to me or give false hope — albeit his limitations as a man...
It was obvious, I know my brother, and I trust his goodwill towards me.
So when he promised me N1million for my wedding — a significant percentage of my budget which I didn’t have at the time, I could rest for two weeks even though no credit alert was due anytime soon.
The Holy Spirit taught me, and it has taken 6 months since the lesson; 3 months+ into married life; thriving through an pandemic that caused a world wide lockdown with economic and security burdens in tow; and another wave of God’s hand to get the message...
That FAITH is Me knowing God and trusting His goodwill towards me. And to whatever degree His promise(s) to me give me rest amidst the storm — that is the degree of my faith.
And this same God (my Abba, Father) has spoken:
that His thoughts towards me are only of good, not of evil; to give me hope and a future to look forward to
In the name of “progressive Christianity” I have acquaintances pushing for a form of #NoHypocrisy
That is to say, we can be open and free about the borderline carnal pleasures we still enjoy and not be judgemental
A short thread
I don’t make this tweet because I am totally rid of carnal pleasures. And by Carnal pleasures I mean stuff that potentially numb your spirituality sensitivity gradually because they aren’t in-your-face evil (even though most of them actually are...)
So for example, we should comfortably enjoy our favourite AfroPop Star’s latest hit track that crosses every line of spiritual and righteous sensitivity but is an uncountable vibe,...
It’s easy to say “your sins are forgiven, you are now born again.”
This is because people can see the works of sin, but no one can see sin itself. We can see the fruits of righteousness— but cannot see righteousness itself.
But to say “rise up and walk” is more difficult. Because for everyone in that vicinity, the only actual proof that God’s ability thrives within you is for that lame person’s body to respond to your very words and rise up on their feet.
Faith in Jesus Christ is not a football team. It is not about signing “star” players to our team; it’s about transformation of the life of every person that the Gospel meets!
We’ve been celebrating co-signs upandan and yet, for a decade of my observation — none of these co-signs have become a worthwhile thing, cause not legacy.
Whe will we learn? Open our eyes God, that we may no longer be conformed to the ways of the system but rather be transformed daily by the renewing of our minds.
Virtually every major Urban Christian and CHH Artist that has “blown” and struck what we thought were desirable deals and desired great cross over appeal, has eventually pulled out of such deals, didn’t get the cross over and euphemise the down sides to their decisions.
Why?
When will we realise we have to look inwards, build from within, and build it from scratch?
When?
And as @adaoralumina hinted a couple days ago, there’s a difference between “growing” and “growing towards”.
To what end is this increase?
Does the end justify the means?
Or must the end and means align?
Earlier this week, @Ditweni got inspired by it to chop it up and make something for the culture... and for sure it’s a fire instrumental, which has in its own right garnered many artists so far to throw up Testimonies over it. This one hit home.
