We might be wrong with some of our interpretations- the stuff IBAB sent us is not always clear, so if you read something another way or hear something different from your processor, please let us know!
We’ll do our best to update this thread.
‼️ Important Caveat p. 2‼️
Unless things are going massively wrong during the exam, we will not be active on this account during the exam.
We also probably won’t be very active over those two days in general unless things are going very poorly.
🗣 Pre-Exam Tips p. 1 🗣
📲 Save these numbers in your cell phone: 1. ExamSoft: (888) 816-3065 2. IBAB: (217) 522-5917
If things go wrong: IBAB’s website *should* have the most up-to-date info before/during the exam: ilbaradmissions.org.
🗣 Pre-Exam Tips p. 1 🗣
Re-read the docs IBAB & ExamSoft have sent us: bit.ly/3l9J5sN
**IBAB’s office is closed over the weekend- but given that we still have time to upload our photo IDs, I think the processors are still working and checking their emails.
✅ Logging In p. 2 ✅
LOG IN AS SOON AS YOU HAVE THE PASSWORD.
You may be able to log in *before* the test session is scheduled to begin: that’s OK!
You have up to 30 minutes *after* the scheduled start to log in: that’s also OK!
You will not gain/lose time either way.
✅ Logging In p. 3 ✅
If you are unable to login within 30 minutes of the test sessions’s scheduled start time:
1. Try not to panic 2. Do not give up on the exam- missing one session doesn’t lock you out of the others
⏬ See ⚠️ Tech Problems p. 3.1-3⚠️ for more info on this
🧑🏾💻 Internet Access p. 1🧑🏼💻
You need the internet to do 3 things during the exam:
1. Access the website/your email to get the session password
2. Begin each of the 4 test sessions so you can take your identification photo.***
2. Upload your answer and monitoring files.****
🧑🏾💻 Internet Access p. 2🧑🏼💻
*** To start the test session:
If you don’t have internet, you will see the blue screen asking for a resume code: return to the Dashboard, connect to the internet, & try again.
If that doesn’t work, call ExamSoft for a resume code: (888) 816-3065.
🧑🏾💻 Internet Access p. 3🧑🏼💻
**** To answer and monitoring files + confirm uploads
❗️IMPORTANT: you do NOT need to wait for the previous upload to finish before starting the next test session! Instructions in IBAB & ES “Day Of” docs are very helpful!
❗️DEADLINE: 10/6, 11:59 PM CT
⚠️ Tech Problems p. 1 ⚠️
It’s true: many tech problems can be resolved just by turning your computer off and turning it on again.
In most cases (with the exceptions of struggling to log in and seeing a screen asking for a resume code), ES & IBAB suggest that as a first step:
⚠️ Tech Problems p. 2 ⚠️
If you run into a bigger issue (wasn’t fixed by above, requires a resume code, etc.):
From the second screenshot, it sounds like you shouldn’t lose time.
⚠️ Tech Problems p. 3.1 ⚠️
Bigger isssues: we don’t know if, when, or how IBAB will handle someone being “unable to enter or complete a session.”
We’ve asked and either been ignored or basically told they’ll deal with it on a case-by-case basis. No more details than that.
⚠️ Tech Problems p. 3.2 ⚠️
Because IBAB didn’t fully address how to deal with bigger problems or not being able to reach ExamSoft, this is @Melanie_K_Blair’s plan if things go wrong:
30 min between sessions + 30 min session 2 login buffer = 60 min window to solve the problem
⚠️ Tech Problems p. 3.2 ⚠️
Hard to draw the line, but: I’ll start to worry around 30 min (begins eating into session 2 login buffer time).•
At that pt, I’ll look into the camera, say I’m going to call•• IBAB b/c I’m worried I can’t complete the session, and then do that.
• For session 2 of the day, there isn’t the same time crunch as you don’t need to long into another session within 30 min of the scheduled start time right after it.
That said, IDK how long ES or IBAB support will be available, so I will probably treat it with the same urgency.
•• There may not be anyone to answer the phones at IBAB- they also have examinees with accommodations to proctor in-person.
But that will still likely be my first step to see if there’s a larger issue, instead of email, which could look like cheating.
⚠️ Tech Problems p. 3.3.1 ⚠️
If you can’t reach ExamSoft or IBAB for an issue in session 1, I would NOT risk being locked out of session 2 by waiting too long.
IBAB makes it sound like this is an issue that can be overcome later, so I will likely consider myself...
⚠️ Tech Problems p. 3.3.2 ⚠️
...”unable to... complete a session” and try to get my computer to a place where I can start session 2.
I will likely leave at the break, if it isn’t that time already: eat, go to the bathroom, and check IBAB’s website/email/social media.•••
••• Checked the Code of Conduct, the FAQs, the Exam Day Instructions, etc. and didn’t see any prohibitions on checking social media *during the break.*
LET ME KNOW IF I’M WRONG.
If I couldn’t complete the session, I’ll probably also email my IBAB processor at that time.
⚠️ Tech Problems p. 3.3.3 ⚠️
••• IBAB’s website generally is updated with announcements before their emails reach us.
After that, social media (Twitter, Reddit) will be one of the better ways to figure out if a problem is more widespread. @BarExamTracker

🤐 Do NOT discuss the exam questions- the NCBE takes this rule very, very seriously.

🧵: reiterating the point that the @NCBEX and bar examiners like @il_bar have known/should have known that the October 2020 remote bar exam was a VERY risky move for MONTHS + what they can do about it now. 1/n
On August 4, a week after the @NCBEX learned that one of its 3 approved vendors did not believe that the remote exam was feasible as currently planned, NCBE Trustee/ NCBE's ABA House Delegate Bucky Askew opposed the discussion of/vote on @ABAhod Resolution 10G. #barpocalypse 3/n
.@illinoiscourts@il_bar@2CivilityOrg: your silence throughout all of this speaks volumes. this exam has, is, and will continue to disproportionately affect bar applicants of color. #ILbarexam
30% of Illinoisians are not white. The ARDC tracks age, gender, and years practicing in its annual reports, but not race. Yet we still know that the racial makeup of lawyers in Chicago at least is not representative of the people living there: chicagobusiness.com/article/201712…
