We are voting on a number of propositions this year, so I put together a voter guide that goes prop by prop with:
✅ Arguments for & against
✅ Major supporters, opponents, & how much they’ve spent
✅ My voting recommendation & rationale
Check it out!👇
This one is a no brainer. Huge strides have been made in stem cell research over the past decade, and more funding is needed to continue that work. #YesOn14
Companies like Chevron and Disneyland sit on insanely valuable property, yet don’t pay property tax based on that land’s market value. These companies should pay their fair share, especially when that money will fund public schools. #YesOn15
In order to create a more fair and equitable society, we must implement programs that help level the playing field. Allowing affirmative action will improve schools’ diversity and provide needed support for underserved communities #YesOn16
Another no brainer. People who have paid their debt to society should have their right to vote restored. #YesOn17
If a 17 year old will turn 18 before the general election, they should be able to have a voice in the primary. #YesOn18
This proposition is largely being bankrolled by the real estate industry. We definitely need to address our property tax code, but this solution ain’t it #NoOn19
It’s no surprise that large retailers and law enforcement want to crack down on shoplifters with harsher penalties. Creating more felons doesn’t reduce crime #NoOn20
Local governments should have the ability to expand renter protections more broadly, especially in one of the most expensive housing markets in the country. #YesOn21
Imagine if Uber, Lyft, et al paid their drivers a living wage instead of dropping $184M on this campaign. Workers deserve benefits and a living wage, periodt. #NoOn22
I had to do some research on this one. The “No” campaign is largely bankrolled by for-profit dialysis clinics who will always sacrifice patient safety for the bottom line. This will ensure patients are given world class care and safe in the event of complications #YesOn23
We need to address privacy issues surrounding how our data is used, but this proposition is clunky and has more loopholes than the rules of Calvinball. #NoOn24
It’s about damn time we stop punishing people for the crime of being poor. Whether or not you await trial in jail or at home should be determined by whether or not you are a risk to public safety, not by the size of your wallet. #YesOn25
