in case you missed it, this morning news broke that MSI was apparently scalping its own graphics cards on Ebay for double the MSRP, under a partner subsidiary's name

MSI has since issued a statement saying that said subsidiary has been instructed to either refund the card in whole, or in part to match the MSRP of the cards

The company claims that "an error allowed them access to inventory they were not permitted to handle", but Steve Burke of Gamers Nexus finds this explanation fishy, stating that it was more likely that the "error" was someone at MSI approved the listing

Regardless of the outcome or who was at fault, it's another blow for the company's reputation, after reeling from a controversy two months ago where they were revealed to have attempted to bribe TechteamGB into taking down a negative review on the Bravo 15 laptop

also as an aside I do not particularly care about any company pandering to furries especially when it uses unsourced art but I suppose that's fine by y'all if it's meme-worthy huh

if for some reason the manager at MSI was the person who had rights to the artwork then consider my interest in the topic to move from "disappointed in the haphazard way people here pretend to care about obtaining permission and giving credit to artists" to "wholly indifferent"

suddenly when a corporation is giving furry validation everything anyone ever says about not reposting art and properly sourcing work goes flying out the second storey window

regarding the original MSI controversy though, I'm personally doubtful that MSI as an entity deliberately orchestrated an attempt at actually trying to profit off of scalping. Still a fuckup but I think occam's razor applies here
