BILLIE is coming to select theaters in (US, UK) and virtual cinema on November 13th. To celebrate, here's another photo that I colorized for the film.

It was taken at the Downbeat club, a jazz club in New York City, in February 1947.

I won't talk about this again, but I'd like to say that I am very proud of what I do, and very grateful to all people - especially academics and historians, who understand and respect the purpose of this work. There's a lot more to it than just applying colors to a photograph.

Everyone is more than free to not be a fan of colorization, and I totally respect that.

But colorization IS changing the way we talk about history, and for the better. They are not a replacement, but an addition. If the technique doesn't work for you, let it work for others.

And that's all. The world is ending and we should be revolting against what really matters.

If I disappear, it's because @dgjones locked me in his dungeon again.

We are making a new book.

He locks me up, leaves me without water and food, and only allows me to go out after I colorize 4 huge and complicated photos.

"In homes with usually only one room, the box-bed allowed some privacy and helped keep people warm during winter. Box-beds were also used to protect people of the home from the animals (pigs, hens) also living in the house."
