NEW: Mike Pence has suddenly POSTPONED a scheduled trip to Indiana tomorrow.
Vice President Pence and Second Lady Karen Pence had been scheduled to travel to Indianapolis to cast their ballots by early voting. The trip had been on the books for at least 9 days. The White House provided NO EXPLANATION for Pence’s sudden change of plans.
Traveling with Pence today is pool reporter @robcrilly, who reports that Pence’s scheduled travel for Saturday and for Monday is “still on.”
Awaiting an explanation from the White House.
I was scheduled to travel with Pence tomorrow as the print pooler. Ahead of his JBA departure, press traveling with him were scheduled for COVID tests at 7am. As of 35 minutes ago, the VP’s office was still communicating with reporters about logistics for the morning.
VP spokesman Devin O’Malley tells pool, "Nobody's sick. There's no positive tests. The VP is planning on travelling on Saturday and Monday. We'll have more information on the vice president's schedule next week soon."
“Nobody’s sick” is an interesting choice of words for the White House this week.
Pool notes that a “senior administration official” says Mike and Karen Pence both tested negative for COVID today, and that Pence has a late arrival back at JBA tonight and lots of travel Saturday.
Question: if this is just a matter of postponing for convenience, why would the VP’s office make the change so suddenly and without immediate explanation at a moment when the White House is experiencing a coronavirus outbreak that’s infected the president and dozens of others?
Pence: agent of chaos?

Dr. Conley now invoking HIPAA to justify not providing the public with information about President Trump’s health, while holding a press conference to provide the public with information about President Trump’s health.
Dr. Conley says he’s “not going to into specifics about what he is and is not on.” That is the literal purpose of a briefing on the president’s health, to get into specifics about such matters.
Dr. Conley AGAIN refuses to answer the question: when was President Trump’s last negative COVID-19 test?
NEWS: @NYMag has confirmed that Pastor Greg Laurie of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, California has tested POSITIVE for COVID-19. Pastor Laurie was at the Prayer March on the Mall with Mike Pence and Franklin Graham and the ACB Rose Garden event later that day.
A church official tells me that members of the church learned of Pastor Laurie’s positive test result on SUNDAY.
A church official tells me that Pastor Laurie “is experiencing mild symptoms and he and his family are quarantining at home.”
This “surprise” COVID parade at Walter Reed came more than two hours after the White House called a lid at 3pm today.
WH pool was “not informed of this ahead of time, and we have not been called back to the White House or Walter Reed,” per pooler @alaynatreene.
White House spokesman Judd Deere: "President Trump took a short, last-minute motorcade ride to wave to his supporters outside and has now returned to the Presidential Suite inside Walter Reed."
INBOX: the Trump campaign is hosting a “Call to Prayer” for the president and First Lady tonight.
I’m reminded of a story from Sunday school. I didn’t pay attention in Sunday school any more than I paid attention in regular school, so I may get the details wrong.
The gist was, there was a flood and a guy prayed to God for His intervention. When a helicopter came to save him, he waved it off. He wanted divine help, not a mortal rescue crew. He died. When he saw God, he asked why He didn’t help him. God said, I tried! I sent a helicopter!
This is a very different performance by the president’s doctors. Yesterday, Conley was lawyerly and shifty. Today, he’s answering questions as if he’s not intent on withholding vital information about the president’s health.
Nvm I spoke too soon.
Conley said Meadows was “misconstrued” yesterday when he contradicted his briefing while speaking (initially on background, ie anonymously) to reporters. Conley’s interpretation of what Meadows said is a distortion.
A few hours before the Amy Coney Barrett superspreader event in the Rose Garden, thousands of people descended on the National Mall for a prayer march with Franklin Graham and Pence, both of whom also attended the White House confab.
A source tells me he came to DC last week to pay his respects to RBG. He stayed at a hotel near the convention center, packed with people who weren’t wearing masks. He complained to management. He even got into an argument in the gym with another guest who refused to wear a mask.
My source then found out why the hotel was so packed: the maskless people were in town to attend the prayer march.
