We need a billion climate activists. No one can tell you how to be a climate activist; that's up to you to figure out. But here are a few suggestions.

First, find a local group of activists to join - or better yet, two or three. You need to find your people: people who share a similar set of goals as you, people you like and who are working toward something you believe in.

These activists will become your friends and co-conspirators. Logistically and emotionally, climate activism is too hard to do alone. You need support, and your voice will be more powerful when joined with your group.

Joining multiple groups helps prevent "silver bullet thinking" (where activists get locked into one idea as "the" solution), helps with cross-pollination of ideas, and helps build solidarity.

Finding local groups can be a challenge, especially during COVID. I’ve been working on a free non-profit app called @EarthHeroOrg to help. We are building features to allow local activist leaders to make events and info available through the app.

Don't expect the group, or the people in the group, to be perfect. But look for groups that are pretty well-aligned with where you're at. If there is no such group or group chapter in your area, consider starting one.

Second, be energetic, courageous, and creative, but always prioritize your physical, mental, and spiritual health. If you burn out, you can't help, and you may even present a challenge to other activists. Be kind to yourself!

Third, anything spiritual practice that helps you dissolve your own ego will go a long way toward helping you, the grassroots climate movement, and the Earth.

Reducing your own carbon footprint is *also* a great thing to do because it helps shift the culture. I do both, but if you only do one I'd say joining groups is more important.
