Regarding ballot harvesting in California, since this practice seems to have caught everyone's attention, I'd like to provide information about who can and cannot engage in this practice, and how they can do so:
Non-citizens are permitted to collect ballots and as long as they are not compensated on a per ballot basis.
Foreign nationals are permitted to collect ballots as long as they are not compensated on a per ballot basis.
A labor union member is permitted to collect ballots as long as they are not compensated on a per ballot basis.
A church member is permitted to collect ballots as long as they are not compensated on a per ballot basis.
A campaign may hire a private outside vendor to collect ballots as long as they are not compensated on a per ballot basis.
The ballot harvesting law makes no mention of what type of storage medium is allowed or prohibited. In other words, the law is silent on whether a ballot collection box can be used.
A vote by mail voter may designate any person to return their ballot.
A ballot shall not be disqualified from being counted solely because it was returned or mailed more than 3 days after the designated person received it from the voter.
This is the law democrats passed.
