Random, only-slightly-related thought: the baseball cap has been around for a REALLY long time compared to popular hats throughout American history. It's interesting.
I mean... people have been wearing baseball caps for 100 years now, and they've only gotten more popular over time. Think about that.
I actually have no idea if it's 100 years. May need a fact check here. Someone else do it, please. I am too high.
Wow, y'all were quick with that. Amazing. I'm gonna start using Twitter as my personal research assistant for arcane nonsense.

"Traditional marriage and family, based on marriage between one man and one woman, is the foundation for a free society and has for millennia been entrusted with rearing children and instilling cultural values."

-- 2016 Republican Party Platform

Hey @RichardGrenell, this you?
"In Obergefell, five unelected lawyers robbed 320 million Americans of their legitimate constitutional authority to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman."

-- 2016 + 2020 Republican Party Platform, upon which @RichardGrenell's boss campaigned

Fun times!
"The data and the facts lead to an inescapable conclusion: Every child deserves a married mom and dad."

Holy shit, @RichardGrenell, did you see this part of the 2016 and 2020 Republican Party Platform? Any thoughts?

I don't know who needs to hear this, but women don't need children to have worth and a family doesn't need children to be a family.

Actually... I do know who needs to hear that.
What if being a mother were a voluntary and respected facet of a woman's life that was independent of her professional standing? What if some conservatives weren't obsessed with attempting to pit women against each other based on whether or not they have children?
What if children were generally treated as a blessing for those who want children instead of a wedge issue to be exploited by itemizing them as one might credentials on a resume?

Sunday, January 17, 2049.

I've thought about that day a lot over the past few years. It's a long ways off, about 10,325 days from now.
It’s the day that I will have spent more time out of the closet than in it. I will be 62 years old before I can say that I've spent most of my life living authentically in my own skin.
And somehow, I'm grateful for that. Ain't that something? I'm so completely grateful.

Hey friends, my birthday is on Monday! I turn 34. Every year, I do a fundraiser for @runningstart, a non-profit that trains young women and non-binary folks in high school and college on how to get involved in politics, especially running for office. (thread)
This year, I set a goal of $10,000, which would provide full scholarships for five young women and non-binary folks to attend Running Start's summer leadership program. Alums of Running Start have gone on to do great things, and we want to keep that going.
The org's goal is to increase the number of women and non-binary people in the United States who serve in elected office by planting the seed early. Their training programs emphasize that political leadership is an attainable goal for young women and non-binary people to pursue.

Earlier today, I took a long walk on the Hill because it's gorgeous outside. I was passing by the Supreme Court, and at the intersection was this gentleman screaming into a mic and speaker about abortion. No one was around. (short thread)
He wore a floppy hat and sunglasses and had a cardboard sign propped up against the speaker. He shouts "God doesn't love abortionists!" I pass him and mind my own business. He looks at me--because again, no one is around--and shouts: "God doesn't love abortionists, right?!"
I glanced at him, shrugged my shoulders, and simply said "God loves me" and crossed the street. He was silent for a good five seconds. Seems that he didn't know how to respond. I have no idea if he perceived me as trans or what, but the man clearly didn't know how what to say.

Damn, 2020 ruined Subway. I just...
10% of the “bread” is sugar—the Irish literally describe it as “cake”—and these assholes are successfully shaming my diet with their “fresh ‘n’ fit” options?! 😭
