I’ve been working on #PeopleAndNature for @NaturalEngland for 3 years now and the results of our first children’s survey truly surprised me. We asked children 8-15 about nature during coronavirus revealing real difference between adult and child experiences. Results thread. 1/ 
Only 25% children said that they had spent more time in nature since coronavirus- far fewer than 45% adults asked the same question. 60% children reported spending less time outside. 2/
Shockingly, almost half of all 8-15 year olds said worry about coronavirus was stopping them spending more time outside. This was much higher than for adults. /3
One in four kids report feeling worried or anxious and a quarter feel lonely. But majority report that ‘being in nature makes me very happy’ /4
Almost half of younger children said that park closures had stopped them playing outside. Parks and gardens are by far the most common way children experience nature. Makes me think so important to do all we can to keep them open and keep our kids outside this winter. /5

Significant inequalities reported with children from ethic minority and lower income backgrounds more likely to report less time in nature since coronavirus.
But almost all children, regardless of background, wanted action to protect nature.
