NEW: Here’s my exclusive first-look at the Biden-Harris campaign’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons island, BidenHQ. It features polling stations, ice cream, and absolutely zero malarkey. theverge.com/2020/10/16/215…
The island's design is extremely thoughtful and the digital team paid very close attention to detail. Even the coffee mugs in the field office were customized with the Biden-Harris campaign logo.
Upstairs is two offices for Biden and Kamala Harris. The team even designed Harris's rainbow pride jacket and put it in her room.
Outside of just a fun experience, it provides voting resources. Here's the virtual polling station with a link to iwillvote.com.
There are two main areas, as I mentioned in the piece. But the entire island is perfectly staged for screenshots since rope-line selfies are on pause. The whole culture around ACNH is sharing screenshots on social media. The Biden-Harris campaign really capitalized on that.
Long story short, the Biden team really familiarized themselves with Animal Crossing and its community. In doing so, they created a fun and engaging experience that feels authentic to the candidate and the game's fans. theverge.com/2020/10/16/215…

Bernie Sanders is holding an online "fireside chat" tonight. The coronavirus is forcing campaigns to move online to protect the candidates and their supporters.
Biden tried a Zoom call last night. There were a lot of technical hiccups. Catch up here: theverge.com/2020/3/14/2117…
There's one main difference between Biden and Bernie's online solutions so far:
Last night, the Biden camp took questions live from folks over Zoom. I'm not sure if there was any screening. The first guy who got called on complained about how he couldn't understand Biden.
It looks like Bernie's team will be picking questions from the comments, which gives them an opportunity to vet them first. Probably a smart move, lol.
