I think we really need to have a discussion about the (at least) three professions currently walking around in a trenchcoat pretending they are all one profession, "Journalism":
- The Dictation Machines who think it's there job to pass on a quote or claim without verification, context, or history.

"Police Say..."
"...the campaign reports"
"according to sources close to..."
"BREAKING" (with no context)
- The Opinion Giver who think it's there job to have a opinion on every major development (the more empassioned and less flexible the better!) Far from being a bias or twist, this person believes their opinion is the real product... not the event being discussed.
- Actual Journalists, who think it's their job to investigate the details of a topic and present a coherent and honest, if inherently incomplete discussion of it. This person believes their opinions are ok if kept in check, but are not the real goal of the work.
