2/ The ruling applied to one-kilo and 100-ounce cast bullion bars—the standard sizes traded globally—shifting them into HS code 7108.13.5500 (39% duty) instead of the previously used duty-free code.
3/ Why it mattered:

Gold dealers, refineries, and traders had all assumed these bars were exempt. Overnight, CBP’s new classification made them massively more expensive to import.
