Limited time #penpalooza special: if you want an additional person or two to write to, DM me your name/address today! This is if you’ve already signed up and want extra pen pals...
it's soup season, so i am opening a thread here for you to make an argument for what you think is the best soup. please, be bold. be confident in your thinking.
ok i'll say it: cream of tomato is the best soup. i will take it ANY day over soup with chunks in it. i'm expecting to get blowback for this.
also: french onion is UP there. is it just onions? yes! but it earns its keep
rowan should have been gone week one but i am going to miss his saucy waistcoast energy
i just love how he made everything phallic from his wrinkly nine inch bagels to his cocktree; rowan you cheeky minx
in case anyone cares my bet is on hermine or mark e for the finals BUT i think linda is a dark horse and will go far; they always get rid of the daffy older woman who seems like she would be so fun in the pub (LOVE U, FLO) too early but i think linda might go the distance
a friday night FAQ about #penpalooza because I've had some questions this week! here we go:
1) what is it? it is a pen pal exchange that started in early summer during what we thought (lol) might be a short quar that has stretched into ????? mail is more intimate than ever now.
2) Can i still join? YEP. Still open. Until....well until the pandemic is over? So for a while. You can sign up for a pen pal here: elfster.com/gift-exchanges…
3) How does this work? Because this is secret santa software (LOL) you get 2 pen pals technically: one you sed to first, and one who writes to you. your address is totally private except to that one person. it says "gift" (because again, secret santa) but gift here means LETTER
lots of new york emotions to process today; two separate nyt stories about people moving back/the city being vibrant and attractive yet again. but then broadway announces it's going dark for a whole year. a rollercoaster tbh
trying to squelch the part of myself that bristles at the people who left in march and are just coming back now
my head says new york is a train station of the mind where people are always coming and going and whatever you do is fine the city doesn't actually care but my heart says "if you were not here in april you don't get to talk about how al fresco dining is making nyc feel like rome"
so i tend to balk at virtual events but bette midler, SJP, and kathy najimy are coming together to do a mockumentary about the Sanderson sisters narrated by Elvira on oct 30 and i have never been more excited to stream something
i mean! meryl streep will be there? and thora birch? and glenn close? gimme it! (nyrp.org)
