U received physical share certificates , which you then had to sent to the transfer agent with stamp duty to get transferred in your name . If the sellers signature mismatched in the records, the transfer of ownership did not happen. #baddelivery
The certificates were sent back to you . You then had to give them back to your broker from whom you purchased to get the signature rectified. #baddelivery
