1) Big announcement...
Been thinking about this for
several years.
I plan to start coaching runners
of all ages, sizes, abilities soon.
I was blessed with numerous
great coaches and best training
partners in the world.
It will start as weekly posts
and guides.

2) In HSchool I trained extremely hard. At that time I didn't have
coaches. Ran for the love of it.
I could coast a 2:30's marathon.
Eventually found myself at Oregon, running with my idols like Bill McChesney, who broke Pre's records. Morning runs with
Kenya's famous Mike Boit.
3) So, if you are home schooled,
bottled up at home entrepreneur,
introvert, extrovert, none of
it matters. I will soon post
workouts for runners, or anyone,
who wants to get some fitness
consistency. My only asking...
don't be lame, make a commitment
and stick to it.
4) Running is perfect during
these times. Costs little, can be
stress relieving, done independently
and on your schedule.
For #track, #crosscountry, road
racing, #trailrunning and...
power #swimming, aqua jogging
(I helped power that with my
@runnersworld article in 1980)
5) I'll start these top, coaching
running tips and routines soon.
I just made this decision.
Want to break 9 minutes for
2 miles and are gifted with no
coach, we can do it. Want to
break 8 or 9 minutes for a mile,
you betcha. Want an Olympic
qualifying marathon, put the work
in.
6) Runner workouts will have
a hastag that I'll figure out.
Today I put #TeamDeke for
sake of finding thread. I may
start a new Twitter feed with
links from here. My leadership
feed @LeadersBest will also
have link. This may get very
big and social over time.
Maybe thousands.
7) For past 5 months I've been feeding, helping Portland's homeless. Figured since former Oregon teammate Greg Erwin helped lead the Olympic Trials
and now stage 2021 World Championships, I can do something too.

social tools to share stories.
9) Final note for today's
announcement that I will
start posting workouts adaptable
to every level of runner.

Hope to organize group volunteer work across US.
If you can swim, have pool
access, there will be extras.
Pool running workouts... intense.
