The last 48 hours have been the most painful in all my life. I have heard less than 5 hours of sleep. May God console all the families of the victims of this protest. How Lagos became a defenseless and center of war in the last 24 hours is a shock to many of us, the attack
on the infrastructure that make Lagos to be Lagos, the pride of Nigeria and home to all Nigerians seems to be a deliberate and well coordinated efforts of enemies.Lagos has long be a subject of envy by people who do not wish the SW well, such envy has been camouflaged in hush tones
how a national protest can be so localized in the destruction of properties and investments that provides thousands of employment to people,a transport systems that provide comfort in its uniqueness and more importantly, the disruption of an economy that is yet to recover from
the pandemic,an attack on the cultural symbol and the tradition of Yoruba people at Iga Olowo Eko,a coordinated assault on the persons of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and what he represented. This is a sad moment in our history as a people but the Yoruba will survive this,we will build
a new Lagos though at a greater cost, we will pay the price of been a cosmopolitan city that welcome all people and we will all ground that we lost. This give us the opportunity to recommit ourselves to the demand for a State Police and new Federal security infrastructure. What
see in Lagos is a failed and underfunded policing system. Our police does not have the capacity to control crowd and disperse protesters, the military must investigate those who came to shoot at protesters. We must be calm in the face of provocation lest our enemies laugh at us.

It is easy for our compatriots to blame Lagos for encouraging the protest. We are Yoruba people,we tolerate dissent, we encourage and allow alternative views and opinions to prosper. We are accommodating and unjealous of others. We didn’t make ourselves this way,we are who we are.
Those who are students’ of history will recognize the role of Lagos in the struggle for independence, our cities were the theatre of battles against oppressive military dictatorships,we are just who we are,not created to be subservient. In all these we also create rooms for people
creativity to thrive. We can’t kill decent no matter how attractive such options were but we have also in the process made ourselves the target of envious enemies and betrayed by allies, that is what our history have taught us, but we will not be other people, we will be us!
