Let's talk about denim jeans.

Specifically, how many pairs you need and in which washes.

But before we get into that let's cover fit.

There is a healthy range that is considered acceptable:
I recommend most guys go for either a straight or slim fit with a tapered leg opening.

The tapered leg opening makes a BIG difference.

Gives your legs shape and dimension.
Even on bigger guys, a slimmer fitting jean with a tapered leg is more flattering:
What about a skinny fit on muscular guys?

Is that kosher?

Can be. Really comes down to the look you're going for.

Now, if you were to get just ONE pair of jeans I recommend a pair in dark denim.

They are the easiest to dress up or wear casually.

Ideally you want an option with no distressing at all like a raw denim jean (what you see on the left):

If you want another option in addition to the dark denim I recommend a nice lighter wash jean that you can wear casually and during the warmer months of the year:
Once again, worth looking for a more even, uniform wash - a little bit of distressing is okay.
Another good second option here is a classic medium blue jean.

Perfect to wear these guys year round.

They will have a bit of distressing and that's okay.
These Mosco jeans are from Mott & Bow as well: bit.ly/2Wkr7IV one of their original best sellers.
These three jeans would be my main options.

But if you want to branch out there are a couple more worth considering.

First, the grey denim jean:
You can find these in various shades of grey ranging from dark to light. I like them mostly for fall/winter looks but a nice lighter grey jean could work well for the spring/summer season too.
And they are surprisingly versatile too. Tons of different ways you can wear them:

Next, black denim jeans.

These are great for pulling off those saucy all black looks:

You can also get these in a "washed black" look as well...but they end up coming close to being dark grey jeans.

In a nutshell this is what I recomend:

1. Dark denim
2. Light wash jeans (medium blue or a true light wash)
3. Grey denim jeans (dark or light)
4. Black jeans

There are other options out there (e.g. white denim) but overall most guys don't need to deviate much from this list.

Bald guy style advice...because I have readers who keep asking.

1) If you're going bald...just shave your head. Embrace the look. You don't have to take a razor to it either, clipping/buzzing it short is fine.

Statham did just fine embracing the look...
Same with someone like Andre Agassiz...btw that hair you see on the left is mostly a weave (funny story from his biography).
Bruce Willis is yet another good example...I think you get the idea.

If you're losing it, embrace it.

Fall/winter season is sweater season.

And there are a TON of different options out there.

Even with something simple like a crewneck sweater, you'd be surprised at the variety.

Here are just a few to consider:
Your standard fine knit merino wool sweater.

What I like about these guys is that they are easy to wear tucked OR untucked.

Merino wool also has natural anti-odor and temperature regulating properties.

A piece like this can be worn year round. Dressed up or casually. Image
You also have your raglan sleeve style crewnecks. This is where the sleeve extends in one piece fully to the collar.

These have a sportier look to them and are best worn casually with denim jeans and boots or sneakers.

What is the ideal length for your dress pants?

Answer:

It depends... Image
First, most guys wear dress pants that are too baggy.

Not only baggy through the seat/thigh but also too baggy in the length causing an excessive amount of fabric to pool at the ankles.

Avoid this look. Image
When it comes to appropriate length you have a range of fits to choose from depending on your taste/aesthetic.
