Good to see climate action as a serious topic in the main US election debate. Wonder if we'll have that in the Netherlands too.
A good way to show a difference in what we know is an important topic for voters, in the US too.
Republicans and some media think Trump made a brilliant move by getting Biden to say he'll transition away from fossil fuels. Not so sure.

Half of the Arctic is 10-20⁰C warmer than normal at the moment. A consequence of the enormous area of sea ice that melted away this summer.
Slow seasonal regrowth of Arctic sea ice so far: extent now almost as low as in disaster year 2012.
Ah yes, and 10-20⁰C above normal is 18-36⁰F above normal.

New Covid-19 wave led by Europe, unfortunately. Tiny Netherlands (0.22% of world population) registering 1.7% of daily new cases now.
Bit of a third wave starting to grow on top of the second wave in the US.

China's biggest-ever solar power plant goes live: world's #2 at 2.2 GW! Construction on the project was completed in September after just four months. cnet.com/news/chinas-bi…
2.5 of these would produce as much electricity per year as a 1 GW nuclear power plant running continuously.
But building those solar power plants one after the other would take 10 months instead of 10 years.
Searching a bit more, it looks like the 200 MWh storage took 4 months to complete, but the solar farm itself took 10 months: pv-magazine.com/2020/10/01/wor…
This also states that the plant will deliver power at €0.043/kWh, that's $0.05/kWh.

450 mm of rain expected in SE France; 270 mm already fell in one place.
.. already resulting in river flooding and damage. Was that flash caused by a power cable in the bridge?
417 mm of rain recorded within 24 hours at one station in Alpes-Maritimes, north of Nice!
That's half a year's worth in the Netherlands.

What happens if Trump is in hospital before 3 November? And what if he dies before the election?
A reminder that Trump is 74 years old.
And then there's lots of people doubting that Trump really was diagnosed with Covid-19; unsurprising given the flood of disinformation coming from the White House these years.
