Not sure if this will be helpful, but here are some top tips for #earlyvotingnyc (as experienced by me, a 1st time #pollworker) 1) Check your early voting location! It is often NOT your election day location. If you're at the wrong location, you will have to fill out an affidavit
2) Bring your fast pass tag! You will have received it in the mail, it's a mailer from @BOENYC that tells you when early voting/elections are--this is the flip side from your address
2.5)Once you open the mailer the tag is attached to your voter card. BRING THE TAG as it SHORTENS your wait time!We HAVE to process them differently; if you don't have your tag w/you, we have to look you up by your address @ the info table. #earlyvotingnyc
(previously the cards were paper, NOT plastic coated; if you were already registered and did not change addresses you should have received the mailer w/the tag & card or will shortly). Also bring ON ELECTION DAY as it will also shorten your time then.
3) If you have an absentee ballot to drop off, you DON'T need to wait in line--let one of the line managers know (show it to them) and you will be let in to drop off your ballot that is sealed and signed. You still get a sticker!
4) Today my site in BK processed about 1,300 voters, which is supposed to be fairly high (small school site, not Barclay's). Peak was first couple of hours until lunch, then lull from 2pm-3:30, w/a final rush in last ½ hr (polls were 10 am-4pm today). #earlyvotingnyc
5) If you are in line by the time polls close, you WILL be allowed to vote! However, please be kind to #pollworkers and come at least 30 min prior to close :) The faster all voters are out, the faster we can process and document and leave #earlyvoting
6) If you are concerned about safety: I saw 100% full mask compliance by voters. There is ample space between privacy (voting booths) and clear instructions. All poll workers have badges and can direct you or can assist you if you feel unsafe or have questions about your ballot.
7) Please leave pets at home, and only bring support animals! We do not ask if they are, but for the safety & well being of others, please only bring if necessary.
8)Wait times vary, so plan ahead! (see #4 for peak times). My site (from what I heard, I was inside the whole time) never had more than a 1 hr wait, but was as short as 15 min at times. I heard other sites in BK had up to 3.5/4hrs wait. Go on a weekday /off peak hours if you can!
to clarify, ℅ @JarretBerg: "If you are at the wrong poll site you must go to the correct poll site. And actually you should be directed to the correct site. But first we need to notify them they are at the wrong site. It’s an ugly election law with lots of anti-voter nuance."
10) I lied, 1 more thing: you CAN bring someone to help you! I saw the most heartwarming grandparent/grandchild parent/child duos, or we have interpreters available (what I did today)! See this video for more info:
