Election day is a week away and so far more than $14 million has been pumped into the L.A. County district attorney race between incumbent Jackie Lacey and challenger George Gascón.

Here are the updated numbers showing who is trying to influence the race: latimes.com/projects/la-di…
Lacey’s campaign is boosted primarily by law enforcement unions.

The Assn. for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs has led the way, joined by contributions from unions representing rank-and-file city police officers and state corrections officers. latimes.com/projects/la-di… Image
A majority of the money backing Gascón has come from wealthy individuals.

Some have funded past efforts to reform California’s criminal justice system and have backed progressive challengers to local prosecutors in other major cities.

A dispute between Laguna Beach neighbors over a $1-million sculpture has devolved into police calls to their mansions and allegations that billionaire investor Bill Gross blared the “Gilligan’s Island” song on a loop at all hours to annoy his neighbor. latimes.com/business/story…
The dispute began when netting was installed to protect the sculpture.

A neighbor called the city, which informed Gross that the netting, lighting and sculpture lacked the proper permits.

The quarrel has escalated since then. latimes.com/business/story…
In an application for a temporary restraining order, which was granted, the neighbor cites a text allegedly sent to him by Gross after he asked the music to be turned down.

“Peace on all fronts or well [sic] just have nightly concerts big boy.” latimes.com/business/story…
