CONTEXT: In 2007, Malacañang suspended for six months a regional director of the Department of Education for her failure to submit a true and complete SALN.
Failure to file a SALN is punishable by either suspension or dismissal.
CONTEXT: While Duterte has not made public his SALN for three years now, former Chief Justice Renato Corona was impeached in 2011 for violation of the Constitution when he failed to disclose his SALN to the public.
President Rodrigo Duterte, who promised to end corruption in the country as early as 2016, said he will dedicate his last years in office to fighting corruption because it keeps getting stronger.
In February this year, Duterte admitted that he cannot stop corruption.
CONTEXT: In his campaign period and during his first year in office, Duterte claimed he will get rid of “corruption, criminality, and drugs” in three to six months, and told Filipinos to kill him if he doesn’t.
