BREAKING: Under pressure, UK govt has released its massive NHS COVID-19 datastore contracts with Amazon, Microsoft, Faculty, Palantir, Google – hours before @opendemocracy & @foxglovelegal were due to sue.
@Foxglovelegal The contracts show that the companies involved, including Faculty and Palantir, were granted the IP rights to the contract (including the creation of databases), and were allowed to train their models and profit off unprecedented access to NHS data.
Govt lawyers admit this, but claim that the contract with controversial Cummings-linked AI firm, Faculty, was changed after @foxglovelegal’s original FOI to address this issue. They have not disclosed the further contract - we’re seeking it immediately.
