New from me: NBC News misrepresented an internal memo that was meant to brief DHS officials on the Rittenhouse case.

I've seen the memo and NBC News left out key context that shows the "sympathetic" talking points were not actually talking points: townhall.com/tipsheet/julio…
There are two parts to the memo, "Situation" and "Response." This distinction was not made in NBC News' story. It's important because the "sympathetic" talking points were underneath the "Situation" section. The "Response" section told officials to give a no comment.

.@DHS_Wolf at this year’s State of the Homeland: “For nearly two months, while defending the federal courthouse [in Portland], our federal officers were assaulted with sledgehammers, commercial grade fireworks, rocks, metal pipes, IEDs...our officers suffered over 240 injuries.” Image
Wolf: “Some politicians and media figures have brazenly characterized the extreme violence in Portland as ‘mostly peaceful.’...[DHS] supports the exercise of everyone’s First Amendment rights. There is no Constitutional right to loot burn, to burn, or assault law enforcement...”
Wolf: It has been disappointing to see so-called ‘experts’ criticize our response in Portland without knowing the facts on the ground. It’s unsettling that these self-appointed experts rush to criticize [DHS agents]...even before they condemn the violent behavior of a rioting mob
