I'm delighted to announce that the implementation of the new minimum wage for Osun workers will commence on November 1, 2020.
This follows the perusal of the recommendations of Govt./Labour Committee that we set up to work out the modalities for resolving all workers’ welfare-related issues.
Additionally, we've lifted the ban on Annual Salary Increment which was done in 2012. Embargo on promotions & conversions is also lifted with immediate effect. This is in fulfilment our Administration's pledge to give the welfare of our workers the deserved attention.
I appreciate Labour Leaders & the entire workforce in Osun, who are our allies in the race to deliver stellar services to our people, for their selflessness, understanding, perseverance & love for State.
You're the reasons why, in spite of the economic storms, Osun still remains strong & outstanding in the comity of States.
We all know that Osun is passing through the valley of economic challenges & we've proved every inch of the way that we're stronger than the storm. I therefore appeal to our workers to recipocrate our gestures by ensuring increased productivity & efficient service delivery.

My dear Good People of the State of Osun, yesterday evening, political thugs & hoodlums made failed attempts on my life & those of my aides while identifying with our beloved youths who were engaging in legitimate protest against the alleged brutality of the now disbanded SARS
My entourage and I joined protesters from Alekuwodo area to Olaiya Junction chanting solidarity songs with them & encouraging them along the way. During the course of my address to the protesters to reiterate our cooperation & support, political thugs hijacked the exercise &...
...hurled stones and dangerous weapons at us and vandalised several cars in my convoy. Preliminary investigation revealed that the commando style with which the assailants carried out their attack was deliberate & pre-planned.

In fulfilment of our promise to reposition the State's economy & deliver prosperity to our people, I, this afternoon, performed the groundbreaking of Osun Ethanol Bio-Refinery Factory, located in Ayekale, Boripe Local Government Area of our State.
This project, coming amid the harsh economic realities occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic, was harvested from our Economic & Investment Summit held last year. The project sits on over 21 hectares of land conceded to it as equity.
When completed & become fully operational, the Osun Ethanol Bio-Refinery Factory is estimated to attract about $70m to the State & generate 10,000 jobs. The product, ethanol, is one of the safe energy sources the world is turning to as a measure of preventing global warming.

Today, I was delighted to commission the 160-bed Mercyland Isolation Centre in Osogbo, which is another addition to our initiatives for the effective management of the Coronavirus pandemic in our State. The centre was renovated by the Coalition Against COVID-19 (Ca-COVID).
The Coalition also donated equipment & consumables for 100 beds to which the State Govt. added 60 beds. On the same premises, we've an existing 20-bed isolation centre, making the Mercyland facility a 180-bed isolation centre.
It's pertinent to note that before now, we've a 130-bed facility at Ejigbo; 12-bed capacity at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife & another 20-bed isolation centre at Asubiaro, in addition to an 8-bed Intensive Care Unit at the centre.

My dear good People of the State of Osun, in order to ensure a total defeat of Coronavirus in our State, we've decided to extend the ongoing lockdown by another 14 days which will commence midnight of Thursday, April 16, 2020.
However, to allow our people to re-stock, the lockdown is suspended between Wed. 15th & Thurs. 16th April. All markets & land boundaries remain closed during the suspension of the lockdown & the lockdown period. Also, the ban on all public gatherings remains in force.
No doubt, we've all sacrificed to get us where we are. However, the circumstances of our situation do not support the suspension of the lockdown at this period. The application & implications of half measures are dangerous & grave at this critical period.
