NEW: my look at Liz Cheney, who allies and rivals say has her eye on becoming the first GOP woman Speaker.
Some news in here: she has changed her stance on gay marriage and considers the issue settled after she & her sister publicly fought over it in 2013 politico.com/news/magazine/…
Many Trump supporters sneer at the idea of Cheney being the future of the party after 2016/Trump.
Asked about Liz, Don Jr. took a whack: those "elected Republicans who still endorse forever war are dinosaurs in our Party....Even if they STILL don’t realize it yet.”
If the GOP gets shellacked Tuesday, you could see some knives out for McCarthy.
And regardless of what happens Tuesday, Cheney will run for a post in House leadership, according to a GOP official familiar with her plans.
Tellingly, the official said she hasn't decided which one
despite the country's seeming rejection of "Cheney-ism" over the past decade, Liz has become a latter-day avatar for her father's worldview.
The desire to avenge her father's legacy has become an animating force of her political life.
political scions deals w/ it differently
They often correct/over-correct for their parents' perceived failings
JFK was tough on communism after his Dad was labelled a Nazi appeaser
W. becomes a cowboy w/ his Dad's "wimp factor"
Liz is different. little daylight b/t her and Dick
Liz's embrace of her Dad's ideas goes way back. Her 1988 college thesis was on presidential war powers (she takes the president's side)
Also like her Dad, she can be wary of the press. She declined to let Colorado College release the thesis. We got it anyway (but took some work!)
One other bit: Liz has been uncomfortable talking about being the highest-ranking woman or sexism.
When the NYT did portraits of the 131 women in Congress in 2019, Cheney was the sole female member who declined to participate.
Liz likes to play down her disagreements w/ Trump but the truth is that Cheney and her father are not fans of Trump or “Trumpism.”
Read her 2015 book (co-published with her Dad) and the acknowledgements is a who's who of neverTrump: Max Boot, Jennifer Rubin, Bill Kristol, etc.

After being basically the only Dem 2020 candidate not to go on pod save America, Joe Biden finally goes on the pod in an episode that dropped this morning
Near the end, Biden reveals his biggest Trump zinger: “what really rankles my opponent is I say that the thing that bothers them most is he's not a patch on Barack's jeans.”
from @yashar, Twitter defends decisions based on "Hacked Material Policy."
What constitutes hacked material tho?
Snowden leaks?
How about WikiLeaks state department cables?
Are Podesta emails now off-limits on Twitter?
here's their page. help.twitter.com/en/rules-and-p…
This is a huge reversal for the Biden camp which attacked Trump camp for knocking
DNC in August:
"Trump campaign is risking the lives of their staff, the lives of voters, and risking becoming a super spreader organization during the middle of a pandemic."
Biden campaign manager to @apalmerdc and @JakeSherman last month
“I know the republicans want to say we have a million door knocks a week. Well that doesn’t really matter.”
Another bit from this story last night.
Biden's transition team has already made a “handful” of exceptions to thejr new ethics rules.
They didn’t answer q’s about how their rules would be enforced and whether or not there would be any transparency on when exceptions are given.
Obama’s 2008 transition also had an official in charge of arbitrating ethics: Chris lu, who came from Obama’s senate office rather than the business world like Hertz.
The Trump camp has the YouTube homepage reserved today AND for the final 72 hours of the election
The camp will have bought the space > 20 times before Nov. 3
great @NicoleSganga piece
this is one of the ads on the homepage today cbsnews.com/news/trump-cam…
This is one of the others featuring Gary Lamb, a Black truck driver who says:
"I don't have the luxury to worry about freaking Roe v. Wade....I'm too busy trying to keep my family fed to think about that. And for the first goddamn time in my life, i actually see a way out..."
Another one on the homepage is "teleprompted Joe"
The homepage has boosted all 4 ads in rotation above 1 million views today.
ICYMI I wrote a few weeks ago about how Trump was spending BIG on YouTube as a lifeline even as it cut TV spending.
