Your app talks to humans, not machines.

Here are THREE main principles of communicating with users in your apps.

Thread 👇 Image
1 / Be explicit

Don't tell the user that he has typed a wrong password when signing up. Tell him exactly what's wrong.

Bad: "Your password is wrong"
Good: "Your password should contain at least 6 characters"

Your users are not visionaries. Image
2 / Don't leave users without any clues of what to do next.

It often happens that developers show users some kind of error if something went wrong.

App: "An error occurred. We are sorry".
User: so...now what?

Provide users with further instructions on what he can do. Image
3 / Make your text human-readable

Humans are not machines.

Not everybody knows what is 400/500 error codes, what is "invalid format", "captcha", "wrong HTTP request" etc.

It depends on your audience of course! Image
