BREAKING: Pres. Trump is projected to have won the critical swing state of Florida. He'll pick up 29 electoral votes in the race to the 270 needed to win the election.
While the vote tally is only beginning in most swing states, Florida began counting mail ballots two weeks before Election Day, making it possible to project this outcome now.
Both campaigns fought hard for the Sunshine State, but it was seen as especially critical for Pres. Trump, who appears to have fewer paths to electoral victory. Voting rights advocates are sounding alarms that postal delays may have blocked many ballots from being counted.
Trump's Postmaster General Louis DeJoy has been accused of intentionally slowing down the delivery of mailed ballots.
Florida's state attorney called for an audit of all Miami-Dade postal distribution centers after a viral video days before the election showed dozens of undelivered ballots piled up in a post office mailroom where they had been allegedly sitting for weeks.

Joe Biden has received more votes for president than any other candidate in U.S. election history, with more than 69.5 million tallied as of Wednesday morning. Image
He has broken the record set by Barack Obama in 2008. Nationally, Biden currently leads Pres. Trump by roughly 3 million votes, and analysts expect his margin is very likely to grow.
If they're right, Democrats will have won the popular vote in 7 of the last 8 presidential elections (1992, 1996, 2000, 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020), despite not holding the White House for 12 of those years.

LIVE RESULTS—BIDEN WINS MORE VOTES THAN ANY CANDIDATE IN U.S. HISTORY: We’re tracking the latest 2020 results. twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1…
Overnight, Joe Biden developed narrow leads in key battlegrounds Wisconsin and Michigan, with Trump’s path in both states ‘looking bleak,’ according to a NY Times analysis of the outstanding votes.
If Biden were to capture Michigan, ‘he would have the advantage in states that would push his total past the 270-electoral-vote threshold’ to win, the Times noted.

Last night, Republican candidate David Andahl won a seat as state representative in North Dakota's District 8. There's just one problem: Andahl died of COVID-19 in early October. He was 55 years old. Image
Andahl remained on the ballot because early voting had already begun before his passing. He was one of two Republicans elected to represent North Dakota’s 8th District in the North Dakota House of Representatives.
Following Andahl’s death back in October, North Dakota’s Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem declared that, should Andahl win the election, the ND Republican Party would appoint someone to fill his spot.

With results of the 2020 election still too close to call as of Wednesday morning, the U.S. is making official on its long-expressed intention to leave the Paris climate accord. The U.S.' exit from the international agreement was triggered in 2019 and took effect on Nov 4, 2020.
The Paris Agreement was struck in December 2015 between 190+ nations, as a global effort to curb carbon emissions and keep the Earth's average temperature from rising above 2°C, compared to pre-industrial levels.
There is consensus among experts that an increase of 2°C could have huge climate repercussions. 2020's been an historic climate year for the U.S., with record-breaking wildfires on the West Coast and a record-breaking Atlantic hurricane season on the East & Southeast Coasts.

In a rambling 2:30 am press conference loaded with false claims, Pres. Trump announced, 'We will be going to the Supreme Court. We want all voting to stop.'
Providing no evidence of any kind, Trump claimed that Democrats are committing 'major fraud' to 'steal' the election. With millions of votes yet to be counted, he pronounced, 'As far as I'm concerned, we already have won it.'
More than 100 million Americans voted early this year, a record-breaking number, and a majority of those votes were cast by mail.

Floridians have voted to raise the state’s minimum wage to $15 per hour. This shift will be incremental and reach the full $15 by September 30, 2026, for employees who do not collect tips and $12 an hour for those who do. Image
The change will increase wages for roughly 2.5 million workers in Florida, according to Florida Policy Institute. The trend toward a $15 minimum wage, now part of the Democratic Party’s platform, has gained traction in the past few years.
‘It has been a struggle, money-wise. I make $10 an hour,' Starbucks employee Sammy Conde told CBS Tampa Bay in October
