(Mini thread)
I am for a lot of causes, especially women’s causes because it is quite visibly clear how we have deprived women of their rights for years. However I don’t support uprising women by lowering men, no matter how bad women have had it.
This is like doing exactly what was done to women, to men. A few years from now we will sit here and start meninist groups and hashtags after having things go out of hand because we were seeking equality the wrong way.
Few women loved to cook and all of a sudden we said “Women belong to the kitchen”. It was war for just that thought. Statements we consider to be small or normal according to the culture we have, have massive impact in a few years.
“Men are trash” was a statement to fight against trashy men who rape women and do domestic violence. Now women use that statement on a daily to any situation they go through. If it was “Some men are trash” it would still suffice but then it’s generalized.
Some people have told me “You shouldn’t be bothered by the statement if you aren’t trash”. Well if I just wake up and say “Women are insecure” or “Women are stupid” or “Women are ho*s”, none of the women should be bothered by that unless the shoe fits right?
I hope we can both speak maturely and see the discrepancy in this. A LOT OF MEN ARE ACTUALLY TRASH and I will never defend the rubbish some of us men do. We can come together and solve this because if a woman is raped, that could be my wife or even mother or daughter.
Let’s fight the good fight to correct and move forward. We are facing extreme rage and anger with such misogynistic acts around but we can’t lose focus that this is against the evil men or women, not a whole gender.
