A note to my fellow conservatives and Republicans: I hope you won’t view this electoral loss as setback, but rather as an opportunity to move forward and beyond the darkness of the last four years.
Trumpism is an evil, destructive lie that has deceived many among us. Let us leave it in the past, recommit to our founding principles, and join other Americans in the fight for liberty and justice, contributing ideas supported by our values and fact to the national dialogue.
Many of us have been on opposite sides of this struggle, but my heart, mind and arms remain open to you and to anyone who will now choose love over fear, truth over lies, and freedom over tyranny. Every day presents a new opportunity to choose good and the national interest.
Though I believe it necessary for the nation and the party to expel or repudiate Trump’s worst enablers in government, media and elsewhere, I will proudly and eagerly stand shoulder to shoulder with any other who will renew their commitment to founding principles now.
Candidly, however, I fear that despite this great opportunity for Republican rebirth, too many of us are so lost in a fog of falsehood and indecency, that it will not be realized without tremendous, additional cost to the nation and the party.
Nevertheless, it is my sincere hope and cause that we will seize this opportunity now together, rather than find ourselves still, and perhaps indefinitely, on opposite sides of the American struggle for a more perfect union. 🇺🇸
