After more than three hours of (around 60) public comments, the Twin Falls City Council decided to indefinitely table a discussion on the face mask mandate. #IdahoCovid19
The motion to table was made by Shawn Barigar, former mayor, and the councilmember that suggested the mask mandate discussion.
Barigar is now bargaining with the man who organized a pre-meeting protest.
The councilmembers are talking about the need for education to an audience that spent three hours telling them they don't believe in masks.
The vast majority of those who testified were against the mandate.
Several health professionals sent comments ahead of time in favor of the mandate, as did large companies like Lamb Weston and Chobani.
During the last South Central Public Health District meeting, Twin Falls County Commissioner Brent Reinke said there wasn't enough education about masks.
The PIO for the district listed all the educational efforts she had worked on. It took a couple minutes.
Reinke said..
Oh, well we commissioners will start to work on this much more diligently (in Oct.), by posting more on facebook, etc. They haven't posted anything about covid since. Just a "poll" on whether the community was pro/against a mandate.
So that's how education is going here.
