1. Two corporate law firms, @JonesDay and Porter Wright, are helping Trump attack democracy

Jones Day says it's not involved in efforts to overturn the results, but is representing the PA GOP to try to invalidate thousands of ballots

@JonesDay 2. Porter Wright is seeking an injunction to prevent Pennsylvania from certifying its results, which would disenfranchise millions of voters.

Among Porter Wright's other clients is @Amazon.

3. @Amazon has recognized Biden as the winner and emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of the democratic process

It acknowledged receipt of Qs about its relationship with Porter Wright, but didn't provide an on-the-record response

4. The following companies have recognized Biden as the winner and said Trump's fraud claims won't change the outcome. They are all also clients of @JonesDay:

@Hanes

6. @McDonalds CEO went on cable TV yesterday to congratulate Biden. But McDonald's is also a longtime client of Jones Day.

The company did not respond to a request for comment.

2. After election day, the Trump campaign has sent more than 150 emails soliciting donations

The appeals come about once every hour

There are tens of millions of people on the list

If even a tiny fraction are donating, that's millions a day

popular.info/p/why-trump-wo…
3. The donors are being duped. Most emails solicit funds for the "ELECTION DEFENSE TASK FORCE"

But none of the $ is actually earmarked for the Trump campaign's legal efforts

60% goes to pay down Trump's campaign debt

40% goes to the RNC general account

1. If you read the news, you might be under the impression that the GOP has retained control of the Senate

THAT IS NOT TRUE

Control will be decided by two run-off election in Georgia on Jan 5

And both GOP incumbents have major vulnerabilities

2. Sen. Loeffler has never been elected to any office and won just 26% of the vote Tuesday in a crowded field

After attending a private briefing on COVID on Jan 24, she invested up to 250K in Citrix, a company that makes work-from-home software

popular.info/p/georgia-on-m…
3. Less well-known is Loeffler's massive conflict of interest. She sits on the Senate Finance Committee which oversees her husband's company, which owns the New York Stock Exchange

Loeffler was also paid millions by the company before becoming Senator

1. The Trump campaign has filed a bunch of lawsuits generating headlines like this one from the AP.

It sounds very ominous.

But I went ahead and read the lawsuits.

And it's all smoke and mirrors.

2. In Michigan, Trump has one guy it says was unfairly prohibited from being an observer. (No details provided)

It also wants access to VIDEOS OF DROPBOXES. Unclear what it would do w/the videos.

It wants the count stopped but Trump trails by 150K

3. In Georgia, the Trump campaign as a guy who says he saw 56 ballots that weren't processed appropriately

The campaign is asking that ballots that arrived after 7PM on Election Day be segregated but that's likely already happened

Just very little to it

1. I just read the complaint the Trump campaign filed in Michigan and it’s a doozy.

The Trump campaign made it sound like it was about observing vote counting but its really more about dropboxes.

Let’s dig in
2. The campaign cites a new Michigan law that requires dropboxes to be under video surveillance

It doesn’t allege that didn’t happen. The Trump campaign want access to the videos.

We are talking about hundreds or thousands of hours of videos of boxes
3. What authority does the Trump campaign cite to prove they are entitled to this video? None. They just assert its part of the process of observing the count

The statute however specifically says observers can watch mail ballots be processed

Nothing about video

1. Trump has announced legal actions in three states so far, none of which have much substance

The states are WI, MI, PA

Follow along if interested
2. The Trump campaign says its immediately filing for a recount in Wisconsin. But that can't be done until Dec 1, when the state completes its canvass. So they really aren't doing anything. Also, recent statewide recounts have moved a few hundred votes and Trump is down by 20K
3. In Michigan, the Trump campaign is suing to stop the count and their chief complaint is that their observers aren't allowed to sit closer to the people counting the votes.

This is a pretty weak justification.

Also, Trump trails by 60K+ votes

Stopping the count won't help.

1. To know the results of an election, you have to count the votes.
2. It would be nice if we could look at polling to know who won in advance, but it doesn't work that way.
3. Alternatively, it would be nice if the votes were counted quickly. After all, many people were waiting for this day for four years. But there isn't an infrastructure in many states to do so.
