Anyone still supporting the American Fascist Party or their large failed bully of a leader is either helping the beast that is eating them, or else is that beast. They should in many cases be pitied, but should under no circumstances be trusted.

That's not revenge, it's wisdom.
They may indeed have been fooled by predatory propaganda; they may indeed have fallen into the thrall of toxic conservative media and no longer be able to perceive reality

Their false worldview should be examined and understood, but never validated.

That's wisdom, not revenge.
It's very true that they may falsely think the same things of us that we accurately think of them—because an abuser always accuses others of what they do. And what they support is abuse.

We should note their confusion, but never join them in it.

That's wisdom, not revenge.
You can't trust people whose identity is based in defending lies.

You can't work on solutions with people whose identity is founded in preserving the problems.

Reality exists.

You wouldn't listen to people whose solution during a blizzard was lying down naked in the snow.

"racists remained motivated by racist fears"
It's always crazy-making that so much time is spent explaining *why* people voted for Trump, as if the reasons are novel or exonerating.

If you broke into my house, killed my dog, and left the walls smeared with shit, ok, let's hear your reasons, but let's hear them in court.
"No but you don't understand they were angry."

Picked up on that. They still voted for authoritarianism animated by every possible bigotry.

"No but you don't understand they weren't hateful it was just they did it for money."

...ok? And?

One of the biggest problems facing our country is that how at least 70 million of us are either genuinely malicious people or else don't know the difference, at a basic grade-school level, between right and wrong.
I mean, this is true, but it's not an exonerating observation.

If they prevail, we've seen what happens. A lot of people get excluded and harmed. Not a danger for them if we prevail.

And: abusive people always accuse their victims of the thing they themselves do.
If we won completely, they'd get free health care, their kids get educations, they don't live in a pandemic, they aren't subjected to a travel ban, or police brutality, and on and on and on.

So: so what about what they say? People who are wrong believe wrong things. Abusers lie.

When fascism is in power, if you support fascism, you are a fascist.

If you do it because you're enthusiastic, you are a fascist.

If you do it because you're indifferent, you are a fascist.

If you do it because you're confused, you are a fascist.
If you support fascism and you love your kids, you are a fascist.

If you support it and you volunteer to help the needy, you are a fascist.

If you support it and you are friendly and jolly to strangers, you are a fascist.

Fascism doesn't care about anything but the support.
People telling me that calling people "fascist" is wrong because I'm condemning them without getting to know them miss the entire point.

I know them.

Many of them are lovely people.

That makes it worse. So much worse.

DO YOU NOT SEE THAT

Something I’d like to invite you all to notice. Conservatives repudiate the idea of unity, as do we.

They do so because of what they’ve been called.

Not afraid of losing their health care, or their house, or their legal standing, or their loved ones, or their lives.

Criticism. Image
We refuse to try to try to unify with people who support policy that will exclude and harm and kill us and our loved ones.

They refuse because they resent having received the most awful consequence an abuser can imagine, which is accurate criticism.
This joke from March made the rounds after Rick Santorum suggested that Trump voters needed time and space to process their feelings.

MAGA America discovered it today.

Someone tell Joe Biden: they do NOT want to unify.

Unless this means creating a national health care plan that takes care of all sick people, unless it means true equality for all LGBTQ people, unless it means neighborhoods free of police brutality, unless it means restoration of voting rights, what does it mean?
Unless this means independent commissions to investigate the crimes of the prior administration, so the truth can be told about the harm done and reparation made to those damaged, what does it mean?
If this doesn't mean finally making a reckoning for the treatment, historical and ongoing, of native populations, what does it mean?

Empathy and respect for each other means for *each other.*

Who is meant to show empathy?
