[Thread] PWG DDT4, Jan. 12 2013. Match 2 for Kevin and El Generico in their desperate bid to become PWG tag champions again, against Future Shock--Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly.
All of their matches link into one story; I detailed the first match here:
Last match, Kevin and Generico ALMOST got along by the end. But Kevin still won't even look at his former friend. He's more focused on attacking Adam Cole, who took the world championship off him and is taunting him with it now.
Please take a moment to enjoy Adam Cole's frenzied "NOT AGAIN!" as his doom approaches.
El Generico is confused and annoyed by Kevin's single-minded focus on destroying Adam: see him doing the "What the hell, man?" gestures in the background.
As a recipient of many of Kevin's nose-bites in the past, Generico can't help but flinch at seeing another one.
It's clear Kevin is not going to be willing to tag in Generico if he has a chance to punish Adam some more, and by Generico's half-hearted reach you can tell he knows it too.
But Kevin's hubris comes back to haunt him as Kyle and Adam work together (as a tag team should, Kevin!) to leave him helpless and at the mercy of his foes.
It isn't until Kevin sees Generico scrapping it up with Kyle that he seems to realize that he's actually got an ally who might be willing to help him. This starts a sequence of desperate tag attempts as Kevin tries to reach Generico in the corner.
Of course, he's thwarted over and over. Generico's efforts to reach him grow more and more urgent as Adam and Kyle constantly prevent the tag that the audience longs for.
Kevin manages to take out Adam for a moment, but he starts crawling toward the wrong corner! Argh!
Finally, FINALLY, he orients himself and manages to make the hot tag to his former friend who is reaching out with every fiber of his being.
Last match they had 9 tags in 11 minutes. This is the only tag between them in this match, because it's the only one needed.
One of the secretly sweet things about El Generico's last matches is seeing wrestlers sell as they take his moves for--as far as they know--the very last time. Here Kyle adds a delightfully dramatic farewell pirouette.
It's Generico's turn to head to the wrong corner! Even when they WANT to be on the same page, somehow the time and place are never right, IT'S SO FRUSTRATING.
El Generico makes a frantic run at Kyle, only to find himself in need of Kevin's rescue this time after a flurry of moves.
And finally, Adam Cole finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, and becomes (as it turns out) the very last person to take Kevin and Generico's Assembly Line finisher.
Kevin and Generico's hopes of winning the tag titles are still alive as the audience leaps up!
Kevin still refuses to celebrate with El Generico--no handshake or acknowledgement. There's only one match left, against the champions, the Young Bucks. Will the former friends triumph?
When Sami Zayn defends his Intercontinental championship against Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania, he's working at a disadvantage, because his moveset has been pared down to a sliver.
This thread is a field guide to some of Sami Zayn's signature moves, and a chronicle of their loss.
1. Barricade Moonsault: a move made more possible by the main roster's wider barricades, it's a reckless yet defensive move, turning his opponents' attempted whip against them.
Most importantly, it throws him almost directly into the fans' laps, shattering the distance between them.
