IMPORTANT NOTICE 🚨
Please spare 2 min of your precious time.
I have noticed that twitter has been taking a toll on my mental health for long, it is not easy to post about a subject (police) which is hated by the masses. People spew hatred w/o any reason on my posts and
They give-out statements against the police & the system w/o even knowing the set-up.
It is very difficult to dig out research work on the police (which also happens to be a part of my university course work), the threads on police depts I make are not info that one will get on
the internet. Most of the info is given by police officers, so it's difficult chasing them and framing the threads.

But it is very easy for an anonymous account to appear from nowhere, Comment BS and walk away.
So I've decided to 'technically' leave twitter FOR SOME TIME. Gotta focus on "Mann ki Shanti"

I will not delete or deactivate my account, because if I do so the threads or the research work won't appear.
Tomorrow I'll be making a mega thread compiling all the police threads & data of the past. I'll pin it on my profile for you convinience.

Finally, a note to anonymous accounts - please be kind next time, a lot of time and effort is put into police research ☺️
I made some really good friends here. Thank you for your support ❀️πŸ₯°
I'll be back soon.

Special Operations Group (SOG) THREAD ↓

HQ - District Police HQ
Strength - 1000/1200
Estb - Dec 1994 / Jan 1995

Much awaited thread is finally here
Before we dive-in, I'd like to thank a JKP officer who chooses to remain anonymous. He took the pain of explaining the functioning of SOG to me. Interestingly, he has been conferred with a Gallantry Medal for leading SOG teams and gunning down terrorists.
Thank you β˜ΊοΈπŸ’
Before we dive in further, we remember the following IPS officers who had an instrumental role in raising & rearing SOG.
Name are as follows -
PS Gill
SM Sahai
MN Sabharwal
Gurbachan Jagat
K Rajendra
Ashok Bhan

Not to forget the DIGs & SPs who lead SOG teams into encounters

HQ - Kohima
Strength - 200 (approx)
Estb - 2019
There are currently 2 teams (100Γ—2)

The force is headed by an Additional Superintendent Of Police (AdSP) which is unusual because I've never heard of a specialised police Cdo unit being led by an AdSP.
TRAINING - The unit first batch of 200 Cdos underwent a basic commando course at Nagaland Police's CIAT School Ruzaphema from 11 March '19 to 24 May '19 (pic 1 & 2)

For further training they were sent to NSG Trg HQ, Manesar (pic 3)

This is exactly what I feel. Have to come out of the mentality that either one gets into medicine or follow the usual engineering + MBA combo. When I was going for International Relations and Criminology, many of my relatives (most of them pretty useless) gave unwanted advise
As if I was going to hog on their money to pay the fees. They mocked me for taking these two subjects. One even asked me if i was going for a legit course or not (he is an NRI, wasn't expecting this from him)
As I got into my uni I understood the importance of IR & Crim, 2 yrs into my college my interests changed and started to like Crim more than IR. And now, it's my last sem. Fully satisfied with what I have studied and moreover, the knowledge and experience I gained from the degree

POLICE REFORMS DAY, a thread

What were the 7 points which the Supreme Courts asked the states to implement, concluding the famous Prakash Singh Vs Union of India 2006.
It was not an order, just an observation though.
1. Estb of State Security commission
2. Appointment of DGP
3. Minimum tenure of police offcrs
4. Estb of Police Estb Board
5. Estb of National Sec Commission
6. Estb of Police Complaint Authorities
7. Seperation of L&O and Investigations at PS level
Police being a state topic isn't uniform. There is no uniformity in the police Depts of diff. states.
States govts. taking note of the SC's observations implemented some of the recommend steps, they implemented only those steps which suited their narrative
