William Jones did NOT give is the name India or Hindu.

Bharat is the indigenous name of this country.

Bharat etymologically stands for Bha which means light or the act of being enlightened. For example, the name Bhaskara denotes the Sun.
Ratha means “one who is a connoisseur”, “one who relishes”. A beautiful example is the word Rati / Rathi. Rati means a beautiful lady, one who is pleasing, one who is to be appreciated, one who brings Very aptly, Rati, one who bring relish, divinity of desires called Kama.
Bharath thus means “ to relish light”, “to relish enlightenment” and “to relish knowledge”.

In order to understand the term Hindu, Hindustan and India, we need to go back in history a bit. In northwest of India, we have the river called Sindhu Nadi, the Indus River.
In the Persian language, the syllable 'Sa' was pronounced as 'Ha' When the Persians and Arabs came east towards the river Sindhu, they called the land around and beyond the land of river Sindhu as Hind. Hind,
the land beyond River Sindhu, Hindu Thus from the word Hind came the words Hindu and Hindustan..

When the Persians and Arabs came east towards the river Sindhu, they called the land around and beyond the land of river Sindhu as Hind. Hind, the land beyond River Sindhu, Hindu
The term Hindustan was coined to describe the Stan, the place of the area around the Sind, Hind, Indus River. The inhabitants of this area were called Hindustani. Thus from the word Hind came the words Hindu and Hindustan.

The inhabitants of this area were called Hindustani.
As the word Hind travelled westward towards Greece from Persia, in the Greek language, the syllable H in the Hind was dropped and thus Hind became Ind, Inde, India.
The Greek scholars of 200 BCE, Peutinger and Ptolemy, both show India as Inde in their maps. Only thereafter, the terms Inde, Indi, India came to be. In recent times, there has been a view put forth,
that India and Indians came to be called Hind based on the word “Hind” for “Black”,“Dark” in Persian language , from “Hind-e-Falak” in Persian language which denoted “Black of the sky”, “Saturn”.
According to this view, Indians were taken as slaves to Persia and as they were darker than the Persians, these Indian slaves came to be called ‘Black’, i.e. ‘Hind’ in Persian. From there, the land of India also came to be called Hind.
The name of the mountain range Hindu Kush is cited to show how this mountain got its name Hindu Kush meaning that which causes suffering to the slaves from Hind.

Hindu - Indians
Kush - Killer (ex:khud Kushi)

The Aryan Invasion Theory further states that Central Asian nomadic tribes came to India in horse drawn chariots.

This view has been challenged by many historians on the basis that, Chariots are not a vehicle of nomads Chariots are used in flat land,
urban areas Chariots are unsuitable for crossing mountains and deserts. Thus the Aryan Invasion Theory, both on dates and mode of travel does not fit with reality.

Dravidam is a Sanskrit word.

Dravida is a variation of the Samskrt words dramila, dramira or dramida which mean South India. This again comes from the root Dra, meaning to flow, to move, from which has come Dravyam for liquid, that which flows.

Thread.
It is the same root as for Druid, those who deal with magic potions, liquids, the most famous ones being the Druids of the Gauls, the Celts and so on.

Dravya also stands for metals, that which melt. Dravya therefore also denotes material wealth
which usually comprises of various forms of gold, silver and other precious metals obtained from underground.

Peninsular India is rich in mineral wealth and hence is also aptly called Dravida, a land of rich mineral wealth.

How did the concept of untouchability become prevalent in India?

In the Indian tradition and social norm, such tribes who had to be kept in isolation for their protection were known as the panchama, 5th order, besides the 4 Varna order.

(Long Thread)
Excluding - As a trend of excluding and keeping away the despicable.

Exclusive - As a system of “Apartness” to keep certain people exclusive and protected.
The Government of India applies this law for the isolation of the Jarawa tribes in Andaman today. This has been sanctioned by the Supreme Court of India as well.

SHUDRA

Shudra from Su (Soo), meaning to produce, create, beget. It comes from Sooth meaning connecting thread. A child, because it is connected to the mother through the umbilical chord is called Suta, Soota. Shu / Shoo also has the connotation of being tender, compassionate,
nurturing etc., like in Shishu for a child that needs to be nurtured and handled tenderly. Dra as in Dravyam denotes richness in material wealth, natural resources.
Shudra was the word associated with people who were not only resourceful but were also careful with natural resources and nurtured them well, besides being innately compassionate towards others and therefore rendering selfless care / services to others in society.

Significance of Fireworks on Deepawali.

Winter marks a period filled with festivals of lights and Deepavali ushers in this season of lights.

Deepavali is by far the most popular festival, celebrated all over India.
Deepa means lamp and Avali means a series, row, array. Deepavali as the name itself suggests, is the festival of lights – an array of lights, literally.
Karthika Mahatmyam, in that genre, is a work on the significance of the month of Karthika, around October-November in the Lunar calendar and November - December in the Solar Calendar. This is when the full moon aligns along with the Krittika or Pleiades group of stars in the sky.
