"170 arrested in human trafficking operation!"

<police report shows nothing but prostitution arrests>
miamiherald.com/news/state/flo…
Anatomy of Fake News: Notice that @MiamiHerald doesn't both listing what charges were brought in this "human trafficking" bust, just puts up a big dramatic headline and a lot of fluff about the "signs" of trafficking and then some police reports showing prostitution arrests...
This is not journalism, @MiamiHerald @howardcohen, this is copy-pasting a police press release miamiherald.com/news/state/flo…
Anyway... will try to look into this further later. There have been so many of these lately, and people keep alerting me to new ones (& I appreciate it!), that I cannot keep up!
To be clear, it's not that *no one* is ever helped in these stories or no genuinely bad actors are ever arrested. It's that cops & news insist on conflating the very few cases like this with all the arrests of adults for consensual sex

Since Cindy McCain is in the news again.... let’s look back at a few of her greatest hits though, yeah?

Documenting this because my closet will never be this organized again ImageImageImage
I bought a bunch of matching wooden hangers, and let me tell you: closet game changer #AdultAF
PPS I’ve reached the age where I can definitively say that dressers (like buying separate napkins, instead of just paper towels) are for suckers

Good morning, Twitter 🤗Since a bunch of sex-trafficking conspiracy theorists (and some well-meaning but misinformed folks) are demanding that I explain myself...

Rented a moving van to take us back to Ohio. Supposed to pick it up at 11 am today. @Budget lets us know at 9:30 a.m. that it's not available, none are available, too bad about your luck 😡😂🤬
"We can get you the van you reserved for today sometime next week," @Budget says

Um, we have to move out of our apartment TODAY. That's why we rented a truck for TODAY.
And because it's Saturday morning of a holiday weekend when @Budget canceled our moving truck reservation, we have about an hour to try and find a (now ridiculously overpriced last minute) reservation elsewhere before all the rental places close until Tuesday. We're screwed

Be sure to check out @PaulDetrick's (now award-winning✨) video on Backpage, the war on sex work, and the campaign against Section 230. It's got interviews with Backpage founders/alt-weekly pioneers Michael Lacey & James Larkin, plus @drloislee (and me!)
Detrick's Backpage video also highlight's @KamalaHarris' role in this horrible miscarriage of justice. You can watch that part specifically here

Inspired by @meta_meg ... How many tweets would it take you to list every job you’ve ever had?
Had a lot of temp jobs in my youth and side hustles in my early adulthood. Have never actually counted until now (and not sure how many tweets this would fill to list them) but I think I’m at 40+ jobs in my lifetime 😶
The only job I ever got fired from was Kmart, at age 18. Not long later, my manager was fired for sexually harassing teen girls. Turns out being awful at customer service saved me!
