Hey everyone! Today I am listening in to Ada County Highway's weekly meeting.
The item I am watching here is a three-year employment contract for Director Bruce Wong. It gives him a salary increase and severance payments when the makeup of the commission is likely to change.
The item has been adopted, including the item with the employment contract.
No public comment will be taken because it's a personnel matter.
Commissioner Sara Baker moved to approve the employment contract, but with a lower salary of $154,798.40.
Commissioner Kent Goldthorpe said he wont' vote for it.
President Mary May said she will support it and there's nothing "untoward".
"This is in no way meant to disenfranchise or ignore the fact that there will be one, maybe two, new commissioners in January. "
Commissioner Arnold is in support.
"While I didn’t initiate this process, I do have to agree it’s appropriate," she said.
Commissioner Jim Hansen is speaking against it.
Goldthorpe and Hansen voted no, everyone else voted yes.
ACHD Director Bruce Wong will have a three-year employment contract for his original wage, not the originally proposed increase.

Good evening everybody! It's time for #CityCouncilTuesday as the pandemic rages outside.
Follow along!
In the work session, we heard an update on some changes at the Boise Police Department and a survey for the public to weigh in. I will have a story on that for tomorrow's newsletter.
